I think it depends on who you ask. I love Bennie Hill and Monty Python and Ricky Gervais. I think it also depend on the show or comedian. Like comedy over here there are those I like and those I don't.
For the record this American does not own a gun. I don't watch any type of car racing. I don't like mayonnaise, ketchup or mustard. And I hate hot dogs! (except hen I'm pregnant for some unknown reason.) Sometimes I wonder why they haven't pulled my citizenship.

I'm mostly with you here Newbie, but it's worth considering that we "exported" Ricky Gervais for a very good reason - he's a self-serving tedious little tit. Same goes for Piers Morgan. Street parties bigger than the Queen's Jubilee when they left!

Re: Celebrate the differences (British and American)
Noted! Gervais is not popular here, he is a bit of a toad. The only thing I truly like about him is his laugh, I love that kind of bursting laughter. I do adore Karl Pilkington though.
Piers Morgan, we don't much care for him either. He kinda grates the nerves doesn't he?
I don't own a gun, grew up in a gunless family. When I lived on the farm, we had one to protect the livestock. Even then only used it when alternate measures didn't cut it.
We don't get to sample your sense of humor much here. The PBS usually runs the old stuff like Monty Python, Bennie Hill, Keeping up Appearances, Are You Being Served and that one with the lady Vicar. BBCA just runs a lot of Science Fiction, Top Gear, and the Gordon Ramsey stuff.
The only Candanian Show I can recall ever seeing is The Red Green show, I loved that show.

. The way its shaping up here, the "American dream", is like a an over 200 year party. Could be we are in one hell of a hangover. Sad, but can very well be. Just look at our history, and other countries as well. Doing same things in the past that have not worked, ever, and expecting different results. Thats a definition of insanity. Long story that I will not get into here.

Again it is just a matter of taste. I hung out with many comedians. They are a bread all their own. Remember what you see on stage is not always what they they are in real life. As a matter of fact Chazzy might not like them and they might not be popular in her group of friends or her area. But they both are doing very well with American audiences. It doesn't make it right or wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinions.
Some people loved Richard Prior and will swear he was one of the best comedians ever. I would argue that, in my opinion I didn't think so.Jerry Lewis was huge in France and it makes many Americans shake theirs heads here.George Carlin in my opinion was one of the best comedians ever.
There are so many different styles in comedy . Some are main stream some are not. Gilbert Gottfried could never use his stage act on TV. You have to take all that into account when thinking of comedians or any artist. Pierce Morgan is another type of "entertainer" but it is still a business for him and he will do whatever it takes to make money. Everyone is a whore, it's just a matter of price.

Do they have storage units in the U.K.? I mean, what the hell is that? Pay to visit your stuff? Don't take a vacation, pay to make sure your stuff has a home.
They can adopt me and pay for my housing.
(There's so much to read in this thread, I have back up once in awhile and see what I missed)
Such a good question, kss. There are storage units everywhere stacked and filled. How many storage unit auction TV shows do we have now? At least 4 I think.

Well, I was curious if there are storage units in the U.K., as I wouldn't think they have an abundance of land to build the units.
Plus, I had thought someone might have segway into one of Mr. Carlin's most awesome dialogues, about "STUFF".
"Actually this is just a place for my stuff, ya know? That's all, a little place for my stuff. That's all I want, that's all you need in life, is a little place for your stuff, ya know? I can see it on your table, everybody's got a little place for their stuff. This is my stuff, that's your stuff, that'll be his stuff over there. That's all you need in life, a little place for your stuff. That's all your house is: a place to keep your stuff. If you didn't have so much stuff, you wouldn't need a house. You could just walk around all the time."

There was also a massive scandal where the people who tipped shares in the newspaper he was editing were telling people in advance so they could buy them. Then when they tipped them, that pushed the price up and they sold at a profit.

Ahhh tea! Coffee in the morning, love my coffee.
Tea is a comfort thing for me, comforting and soothing when I'm not feeling well...been drinking it since I was a tiny thing.
Don't have many choices here as far as brands. Luizianne, Lipton, Tetly.
