The Wrecking Crew
Listenig to my early morning radio talk today, Kent Hartman was interviewed about a book he wrote on Rock and Roll, in which he detailed a band known as "The Wrecking Crew." They are/were a band that actually played the music instead of the famous bands on some of thier recordings. Interesting, and too much info, so google it. Anyhow, once, John Lennon was asked "Is Ringo the best drummer in the world?" and Lennon said, "He is'nt even the best drummer in the Beatles." refering to Paul. I'd always known this, but never heard Lennons quote. Just thought I'd share it, for no paticular reason.

Re: The Wrecking Crew
Also, when asked about the comparison between Ringo and Pete Best, John said "Pete is a great drummer. Ringo is a great Beatle"

Re: The Wrecking Crew
I know so many musicians and they all seem to agree that most times it what's in the heart of the person playing or singing. They have always said you could teach a monkey to play the notes ( no offence to the group intended). I have hated some musicians that would try to show off their "talent" by making the music to complicated. Most times its the simplicity that shows the real talent. Hasn't everyone seen and or heard a true master do a piece that maybe you sing to your kid at night yet when the a real master sings it its sounds like something to good to be the same song? It can be the same notes but it just seems to come from a different place. Maybe that's what they lent about Ringo being the perfect Beatle.

Ever notice, artists individually can be great. Put them together, and somethings just not right. Like boxing. There have been some of the greatest, most entertaining boxers, never to have been champions.
