Unusual or interesting jobs you might have had?
I was thinking about the fact that I have has so many jobs in my life and some were pretty interesting (at least to me).I started working at age 12 (yes we could get working papers that young back then) and worked sometimes 2 or 3 jobs at a time. Obviously I was still in school and 12 so the jobs were limited. Actually I was working even younger if you count the modeling I did as a kid as well.I will list just some of my jobs and maybe you will understand why I think some were pretty crazy.
Assistant to a wedding photographer/videographer,Worked at a horse stable, Telemarketer,Cust.service rep. at a cable company,Ice cream person(Carvel), Tupperware salesperson. Mary-Kay cosmetics salesperson, Shampoo girl in a hair solon, Modeled hair styles, Sold Italian hot dogs from a truck, Developed film and made prints at a one hour photo place,Luncheonette:counter person and short order cook as well as waitress, Bar tender in after hours clubs, Bar tender and dancer in go-go bars,Bartender at private parties,Bartender in cowboy bars, Cocktail waitress, trainer of bartenders and waitresses in several bars and restaurants, Waitress,Manager of a bar that we helped open, Manager and trainer in a gym/racket-ball/gymnastics training center,Model and on air talent in print and TV commercials/video productions,TV Production, Advertising/Marketing Senior account executive.(this was my job for the majority of my adult life),Taught ballet and gymnastics, Italian tour organizer, I worked at a butcher shop (Not cutting the meat, trust me they wouldn't give me the knife), I even worked for a friend helping with the books of a mob owned restaurant(it was a legitimate business they owned),Payroll person for the Account executives at E.F. Hutton. I also worked for Merrill Lynch in their wire room. I worked at a place that made light bulbs, I also worked as a "Girl Friday' for a company that I can't even remember what they did.lol
Probably one of the most unusual jobs was I would go on interviews that a job placement agency would send me on. He wouldn't always have someone that was good for a job that was posted.Back then many companies would use an agency to try to find qualified workers. So if he didn't have someone who was really interested he would send me. The company would think he was sending good applicants over. He in the meanwhile would look for real applicants. I would get offered the job and just turn it down with some excuse. He would pay me for going on the interview.I did this while still working a full time job so it was great for extra money.I did the interviews during my lunch breaks they were all in the area I worked.I got this job because he was the one that placed me in the job I had and decided I was great at interviews.I got offered almost every job and I have never been fired to this day.
I am sure I left out a few but I really think I learned something at every job I ever worked .My daughter says she thinks it would be easier to list what jobs I never tried. lol Some of these jobs were for a short time and some were for a long time but they all added to my life in some way.Maybe I'm sympathetic to almost all people in all jobs because I had so many and you never know if you could be in their place next.
So what has been your most interesting or unusual job?

Re: Unusual or interesting jobs you might have had?
i worked on a mink farm for a couple of weeks. it didn't last because i couldn't handle vaccinations. it's hard to catch them, and then inject the vaccine into their tiny paws, all while wearing elbow length leather mittens that felt like they were two inches thick. it sucked, i had to clean under the cages with a shovel, by the time i got to the end of the row, i had been pissed on and growled at more times then you can imagine (it was almost like i was being trained to deal with my ex wife... ) then their was the whole issue of unloading the feed. frozen turkey guts, in boxes that did not have lids, by the end of the day, i was covered in guts. one truck driver told the story of how his wife would ride along with him occasionally, and get pissed because he wouldn't let her help unload. so he finally gave in. the first box she grabbed, had three eyeballs right on top , she screamed and never asked to help again.

i should say, that mink farm has since gone out of business. the economy, and animal rights activists have pretty much done away with most of those.

Re: Unusual or interesting jobs you might have had?
that they do. the mink farm i worked at was my neighbor, when the wind blew to the south, it not the most pleasant aroma. when the babies would escape, stray cats wou7ld attack and kill them, so the farmer was always shooting strays with a bb gun to chase them off.

Re: Unusual or interesting jobs you might have had?
I've had a lot of interesting jobs, office, managerial, worked on my own designing logos but I have the say, the most interesting job, the one I miss the most was Chicken Farming.
I raised them for the eggs, not the meat. It's a difficult job too, you have to maintain the coop to be predator proof (speaking of minks, had a mink getting my coop once, had to trap the beautiful poor thing, but they are vicious when they get access to the coop)
I miss the country.

Re: Unusual or interesting jobs you might have had?
minks are mean period and they can bite hard, even though leather gloves, they piss and shit all over ya, the females are worse and go out of their way to bite ya and look forward to it.the male on the other hand are more tame , twice as strong tooo. my uncle use to raise eggs too for restaurants and we had fox problem too and minks would kill our ducks and chickens too. we had problem too with the animal rights goofs, deadford was / is the mink capitol, they come and hit a place , let them lose . thats why there are tv cams and live fences too.

Re: Unusual or interesting jobs you might have had?
As usual someone has sparked a story in me. Three guesses who, as it's about working a stable... My father once applied to a job at a stable not too long ago, not because he liked horses or animals in general, but because of the word, "Stable". He thought the ad was looking for a stable person who was looking for a job, not a stale worker to clean out horse stalls. On his first day he got his answer. The guy who interviewed him, handed him a pitchfork and pointed to the first horse stall. My dad apologised and left promptly. Still to this day, every opportunity, his siblings sent him cards with horses on them since some little birdie told them all about it. Now I wonder who that could be?...

Many years ago, off the Washington state coast, I was an apprentice for fisermen. My job was to bait the hooks. Though I never became a fisherman, I hung on long enough to become a master baiter.
