Re: chili dogs
Personally I hate them anytime. I only like hot dogs when I'm pregnant and maybe once a year or two for no explained reason. And I only eat them plain.I know around here they are more popular during the summer but that's when we have more people and the boardwalk is actually open and sells them all over the place.
If you go to the city(Manhattan), they are sold all over at all times of the year from street vendors. I like the Kabob's better.

Re: chili dogs
I once was going to open a store called, "The Dawg House". Yea, it would have a fake front on the store, made to look like your entering Snoopy's red dog house, with a dark, tinted, arched doorway. The menu would include hot dogs cooked every possible way, with every possible topping available. I even came up with, "Nationality Dogs" a combination of dogs that reflect regions like; Mexico and chili dogs. I even was going to make it fun, by having a special, "Secret Dog" where one dog on the menu would cause the entire staff to act out skits like; if chili dogs where the secret dog, and someone ordered them, the staff would don sombreros and maracas, while dancing in a sort of congo line to La Coocaracha. It never panned out with the economy the way it is. The food establishments around here are closing every day. Nobody can make a buck if no one has any money to spend.

Re: chili dogs
GG I think the novelty would be great.lol Although I would pick a song that would not be about roaches when dealing with food. In Cozumel, Mexico there is a place called Ernesto's. They make the best Fajitas ever! However they have this larger than man sized cockroach wearing a sombrero in the restaurant.(People take pictures with it) I always have to face away from it when I eat there, which is everyday for lunch when we go there. It's kind of a tradition after we go diving, to go there for lunch. I understand the joke but it always bugged me. (Pun intended)

Re: chili dogs
for a surprisingly tasty twist, instead of chili, try loading your dog with taco meat. you can top it with your favorite taco toppers, it's pretty yummy.

Re: chili dogs
I'm sitting here at my sister's watching her two dogs while she's in Florida (Disney). She has satellite TV, way too many channels for one person to watch. Anyway, I saw on one of the channels about a hot-dog place that serves dogs with the most vulgar of names. I wish I could remember where it was, but I came in the middle of the segment. The ones I do remember are the BJ dog, a dog that they hollow out the center and fill it with cheese. As it cooks, the cheese melts and oozes out one end like a happy ending. The other is called a, "Bobbit Dog". Same idea as the BJ dog except it's filled with ketchup instead. I don't know about any of you, but they must not get a lot of male customers coming in to order them.

I've heard of Pee Wee's Famous Hot Dogs, but they have a wide variety of gourmet selections.
