What have you done....
In the last year to make the world a better place? Even in the smallest of ways, that may have put a smile on someone's face. And I dont mean a family member or a friend. What have you done to reach out to someone that needed anything?

Re: What have you done....
A homeless person approached and asked for spare change, as they always do. Like this spare change spends different than regular change. Anyways I told him I did not have any spare change, as his face frowned as I imagine it always would when turned down. I asked him if a twenty would do? I enjoyed seeing him later filling his face on a sandwich.

Re: What have you done....
about 2o years ago, i used to play those crane games where you can win toys, i was pretty good at it. over the course of a couple of years, i had amassed close to 50 teddy bears. i was running out of space to store them, so i gave them to the nuns that lived across the street from my mother. they in turn, donated them to children's trauma unit of Abbot Northwest Hospital in Minneapolis. they were given out to children that had been traumatized by things such as fire, or losing a parent, or being diagnosed with cancer. i felt pretty good for a long time after that.

Re: What have you done....
I gave someone that needed to get back on their feet a place to live for 3 months they in that time got a new job and moved to an apartment an tried to repay me but I would not except just told them to keep an open mind on helping others. I also give a guy I work with a ride to an from work everyday for about 6 months now and at first didn't even know his name just that he was walking to the same place I work.

That is an awesome gift. It is sad so many have an exorbitant amount of things, while others have nothing. I can just imagine the smiles on their faces.
Aiden lives across the street. He is six. At Christmas he said he was selling bags of mistletoe for $5., or 4, or 3, or 2 or change. He seemed to like to talk, and told me he plan to buy toys and donate to boys and girls who had none.

I cut and donated my hair to Locks of Love, so a child stricken with cancer may receive hair.

Re: What have you done....
Most of this past year was spent helping my father primarily and my mother in the last months of my dad's life; but in respect to others, I have 3 special friends, and the 4 of us have done some 4 part a cappella singing. We were asked on a couple of occasions to sing at the funeral/memorial services of some older dear friends. It seemed to help their families through their grief process.

Re: What have you done....
First I want to tell LNH that I have had first hand experience with the result of his type of donation. I know it sounds like a small thing to some but my daughter was in the hospital for open heart surgery when she was about 2 1/2 years old. It was close to Christmas/Chanukah. Where she was there were only children. Some were more fortunate than others as far as the reason they were there and the outcome. It was all for cardiac reasons however. A child being in that situation is so difficult especially because they don't understand. They also couldn't go to the hospital play room like other children in other parts of the hospital. The doctors were afraid they would get sick or a staff infection if they did. Most had to be kept out of school and away from crowds for months before and after due to the risk of illness. So every time someone came around to give the children in the unit a toy or stuffed animal those kids were so happy. Being it was Christmas time as well I swear it got to the point that "Santa" was coming to the unit ever few minutes. It was to the point we actually asked they don't bring anymore toys she had enough to please give to some others that didn't.But I wanted to let LNH know it helps much more than most would imagine.
As for what we have done this year. We adopted a kitten that was abandoned on the street then went to a horrible situation then we got him. I think we were the real winners in that deal. I also helped to get some feral cats neutered/spayed and general care by working as a go between for the very unhappy property owner and the rescue people.

My most recent act of kindness has been that although hubs is a cranky, needy, crabby demanding man when he is not well...I have not once attempted to suffocate him with his pillow.
