The ole perves going off!
Just over at Newbs tax topic. Started to add to Hornyhobos reply, but stopped as I was going too far off topic. I'm in the "No politics zone" here, government in general. Americans, for many years, have been like a frog in cold water, slowly heating to a boil. We're not supposed to notice we're getting burnt. For example: Say you hire a maid. After several months you start to reallize the maid, is not doing the job you, and a little bit at a time, is telling you how things are gonna be. How long would you have the maid in your employ? That said, we pay the our government employees to do as WE say, not dictate our lives, and tell us how it's gonna be. Too many examples to list. How long will it be before we've had enough and say, "We're mad as hell, and we're not gonna take it anymore!" ? (George C. Scott) We are the boss, from a president on down. (Ha ha Kiss, I actually proof-read)

Re: The ole perves going off!
This is in part what I'm saying. The powers to be, regulate and restrict. Require lisences and permits. It's not all a bad thing. But they are being forced on us, and pay for it. Do you chose to do things you don't want to do, and pay for it? Just heard on the news this morning, the government wants to have a new hiway construction program, costing billions. "How to pay for it, will be determined at a future date". Ya, we all make descions to go ahead and make major purchases, especially when we can't possibly afford it in the first place, and just figure out how to pay for it later. Real finacial wizzards there. Btw, I know exactly how to solve the indivdual states money woe's. Just pass the prining press to each state, and print the cash they need. Works for the feds. It's a beautiful thing huh? But speaking of tax's, how about a new tax on clothing? Somehow, I don't think that one woule affect me much. Plz place "Dumb-ass" critter here. Your turn.

Re: The ole perves going off!
I agree with ya about the smokes, hobos. seems they're jacking tobacco taxes up so far that people will quit, but then they'll need to tax something else. Alcohol? but then when people stop buying alcohol, then what?

Re: The ole perves going off!
That is all already taxed. Smokes, alcohol, gas, in NY clothes are taxed not in NJ however. They even tax hospital beds. Are people really not aware of this?
By the way Perv. I will give you this, Arizona has some of the most confusing taxes and tax laws I have ever come across. It is just about impossible to figure out what your tax will be at the end of a transaction there.I go there often and I gave up. I can't believe I more or less have to trust the merchant to get it right. I have family that have a business there and it is insane trying to figure it out even when you have all the tax laws in front of you.It has always frustrated me when i'm there.

I know alcohol and clothing and food and tobacco and gas are all taxed already. I was inferring that the taxes would be increased higher than they are now. I did not know that hospital beds are taxed. I haven't spent the night in a hospital as a patient since I was born, so I probably wouldn't know that anyway. But it sounds about right. Hospitals and doctors are looking to make as much money as humanly (and inhumanly) possible, regardless of who gets hit hard by it. That's why they charge $5+ for a single aspirin pill. (At least that's what it was at the last time I knew. They could be up to $20-25 apiece now.)
What I was getting at in my post was that when the customer base for a certain taxed good is reduced to a point which isn't profitable for the area which issued the tax (federal, state, county, city, etc etc etc), the taxes on that good will be moved to or just assessed on another good. This cycle will happen until there's nothing left to tax, and taxpayers will have no choice but to go broke from paying insanely high taxes in order to live.
I wish people wouldn't be so nitpicky with stuff I type. Just because I don't type everything as detailed as I just typed this doesn't mean that I'm not thinking of the details. I just didn't want to be sitting and typing for half an hour just to share one little thought. I have other things I should be doing instead of defending myself from being indirectly attacked for not typing out every little detail.

The ole perve's cell took a swan dive in water the other day, did'nt seem to do it much good. Go figure? Had to wait for the replacement. Dammit! All I use for the net. Looked at the bill, plenty of tax's there. Good thing I don't wear clothe's, I'd be screwed. Would that be bad?

Re: The ole perves going off!
Andy it was not meant as an attack. It was a general statement that most people do not know what they pay taxes on and that is a problem. And the hospitals were not happy when they were told that they were going to start being charged tax for several reasons . One being they pay taxes on beds that are not even occupied so therefore a hospital that is already struggling will now be charged this by a government and doesn't pass that on if there is no one to pass it on to. When there is a patient of course we pay the price. Either way its bad. We have had many hospitals close in the past 10 years.
Most of what we pay for in gas are taxes. Alcohol and cigarettes are extremely highly taxed. They changed the tax laws in a big way in our state a few years ago to tax many things that never used to be taxed.People went nuts. Certain things have luxury taxes. Hotels and parking in NY have extreme taxes and most don't even realize it.
It used to be that things considered a "basic necessity" were not tax but not true anymore. Lets face it if you are in a hospital chances are you need it. If a woman bus tampons you can bet she needs them but you now pay tax on those things. The NY and NJ powers at be were talking about taxing "sugary drinks" with a premium. The reason was that they claim by making it so expensive it will help with obesity. Bull shit everyone knows that people will still buy it and they will make a new way to rake in money for the states. People went nuts so they haven't passed it yet but now they are talking about it again. They tried this with cigarettes and alcohol. They claimed if they raised the prices with crazy taxes people would stop buying them . We all know how well that worked,

Re: The ole perves going off!
Ok. Here it is. Just heard on the radio, gas going up "Six months from now, these are the good ole days." I gave up my foreign luxury car, 10 years ago, cause I'm a cheap bastard. Great bus system in Tucson. With that, food prices are going way up, and WILL get higher, transportation costs are higher. Right OOMG? Hedge inflation with gold, "they" say. Gold has it's place, agreed, but when the rubber meets the road (not a pun OOMG), are you gonna go to your pantry, and eat gold you have stored? Ya, perve, you're bat crap crazy, and going off, but am I?
