How dependent are you on your electronics?
Isn't it sad that we have become so dependent on our electronics and how we use them every day.Even things like this site being down bothers people because it is part of our daily routine now.I bet many people were even stressed because the site was down for a while.
Many times if a cash register isn't working they close a store down, even though they can still open the draw manually. If the kid at the register puts the wrong amount in when you give them money and the register can't tell them how much change to give they can't figure it out.
I know many people that can't go an hour without checking their email, blackberry or smartphone for messages or other information. We did survive without these before but many act like we can't go with out these things for a day or their life might come to an end.
I watched a program where they had a few families "Unplug" for a week.No computer, no cell phones , no calculators, no TV's,no electronics at all. Everyone expected it would be difficult for the kids. By the end of the week the adults had to admit that it was just as hard for them as well. Although they all admitted that they did discover they like reading, playing board games as a family and doing other activities as a family as well a lot more since the experiment. They said they now make time to do all those things and unplug for a bit when it is family time.
I was just thinking last night about how many electronic devices we had on at one time in the house at that moment . The number was staggering to me. 4 laptops computers,1 printer, 3 e-reads, 5 cell phones,1 scientific graphing calculator,3 TV's, 1 DVD player, 3 digital cable converter boxes,1 router, 1 modem, 1 stereo,1 cordless land-line phone and 1 answering machine. (And a partridge in a pear tree...)Seriously that it crazy! I didn't even count the microwave in that but that was on as well.I think if the fax machine were to get a fax at that time my house would have exploded.
I know in our house we are very electronic oriented as you can probably tell from that list. I laugh because Kam can unplug every electronic in his life and never care. He rarely watches TV and does like the phone and does the math faster in his head than it would take him to use a calculator for most things so he just doesn't use them.In my house that my kids would go into shock without their gadgets.
I have to give my kids some credit. The used to go camping quit often and they never took the electronics with them (it was a rule) and they were fine. I know others that wouldn't go on those trips because they weren't aloud to take the electronics.
So how about you? Do you have to have all the gadgets and are you addicted to the computer or other gadget? Do you think you can unplug for a week?

I am volunteering to be the naked body with you.
I admit I use a lot less technology when I'm at you house. You tend to keep me busy.See you tomorrow.
