Re: Merry Christmas
Any one who knows my big mouth knows that I am ANYTHING but PC! I'm with all of you! None of this "Happy Holidays" shit, although it does encompass a lot of things.
Merry Christmas
Happy Hanukkah
Happy Kwanzaa
And any other things that your heart believes in. It's your heart and you have the right to respect what you believe in without being judged by others. If others don't agree with your Christmas Tree or Menorah, they have the absolute right to create their own things and we wont judge them, but we wont be offended by what they do. Unless it hurts someone. PC is absolute crap!

Re: Merry Christmas
Ah geez now Free..."Happy Holidays" has nothing to do with being PC. It's just more efficient than saying "I want to extend to you the appropriate seasonal greeting, but before I can do that I'm going to need a little background information"

Re: Merry Christmas
Talk about a shock. I agree with Chazzy on this one. Someone catch her as she faints this time.I normally say Happy Holiday's unless I know what the person celebrates. Well technically I say "Happy holidays if you celebrate." I think it's rude to assume everyone is one religion or another so Happy holidays seems more appropriate. It has nothing to do with PC. These days it seems people get more upset if you don't say Christmas but I get offended that people assume we all celebrate it.
This is not to offend and not trying to take Christ out of Christmas in anyway. I respect that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and that is kind of my point. Besides that I recently found out that December 25th is not even the day the church believes is the actual birthday of Christ. And as I have said before the tree has nothing to do with Christmas so I I don't really get why people get so offended by "Happy Holiday's" and "Holiday Tree". Maybe if they were more educated on the history of both the issues they wouldn't get as upset and celebrate the holiday as it should be in a church or at home with people of that faith. It really shouldn't be a public fight at all. Everyone has the right to believe or not and it is possible to respect each and get along. My family made of of so many different races and religions we are like the united nations and it seems to work well for us and we all respect each others views even if we don't agree with them.

I'm not sure why people get so offended by Merry Christmas. I'm also not sure how we can discuss Christmas when we aren't allowed to discuss religion.

Re: Merry Christmas
During Holidays, it's a gray area with the "no religion" thing. Not gonna pick apart everything, if someone wants to say Merry Christmas, Happy Easter, or someone posts about something unfortunate that happened to them and it's followed by some replies of "I'll keep you in my prayers"...just not gonna pick that stuff apart.
Some discussion do fall into the polictical category too, but the "No Politics" rule is mainly there for the American Election year, cuz if you don't live in the US, you might not completely realize what a horrid ordeal an election year is here.
Case by case thing, topic by topic...some will be deleted, some will be monitored.

Re: Merry Christmas
I find that most "No religion or politics" rules are there as a safe guard if someone gets nasty. Most of the people on here that post do it in a respectable manor. I believe that as long as it is meant in the good spirit of things most web sites let it slide. But if they have to delete something or someone they can point to the rule and say "Hey we tried to let it go but you took it to far". I can't remember ever seeing anyone on here post anything offensive about religion. I think politics get tough as Chazzy said. Politics in itself gets nasty here when it is a big political year.People get passionate about their choices and sometimes its hard not to want to snap at someone when they voice a different view. There are website that are set up as a place to debate your political opinions if that is what you enjoy doing. I know I like to discuss things like that with some people because they have different views but discuss and argue are very different. Some are unable to do it without getting nasty.
