Don't you just wonder? Or to quote Arsenio Hall "Things that make you go hmm..."
On the news this morning there was a breaking story about a small plane going down on route 287 in Morris town, NJ. It was really sad a whole family including two children were killed. But what the amazing thing was that no one got hit on the ground. It is a very busy highway and this happened during rush hour.
With all the plane crashes and other things that fall from the sky, buildings, trees, planes it always amazes me that we have a relatively minor if not infinitesimal amount of people that get hurt on the ground from these things. Other times someone will die from a minor accident like maybe a golf cart hit them.
We have had all kinds of things come off building in Manhattan and rarely does someone get hurt never mind die. I find that fascinating and totally against the laws of probability. So many planes have crashed and they seem to miss buildings or populated areas so often. I realize that at times the pilot can do something about steering away from populated areas but many of these they couldn't. How is it we get so lucky? How many times have we read stories of meteors that come down in a yard or a field. Tornado's going though a whole town and no people get caught in it.Buildings collapsing and the people are in the only air pocket they could have survived in.There are hundreds of these stories.
Aren't there things that make you wonder? Like Arsenio Hall used to say "Things that make you go hmmm...."
