Male modeling
I have an opportunity to be a Arts Dept. male model, semi-full nudity at the local college...a good school. I've done some solo private stuff, but to appear naked doesn't scare me as I'm in good shape, it's the erections, or stage fright, and honestly, complete shrinkage...anyway, any experiences, wisdom, advice, and tricks of the trade would be appreciated and used...Any lady artists, with tips from their classes, poses...thanks...a. 8-{o .

Re: Male modeling
The shrinkage issue is really just temperature dependent. If the room is comfortably warm when you're not wearing any clothes, then its not something you'll have to worry about.
You'll also be required to hold the pose you're in for some length of time, so even if you get an erection, there's really nothing that you can do about it, perhaps just try to think of sports or something to keep your mind occupied and not in a sexual state.

Re: Male modeling
They normally tell you how they want you, especially if the know you are new at it. The temperature of the room is just somethings that you have to deal with but found that they try to make you comfortable in most cases. I think most guys worry about the erection issue which in itself keeps them from getting one. Besides if you do get one you will be in that position a long time and concentrating on posing so it will go away. They are art students that are studying nudes, they have seen it all and will treat you with respect.

My suggestion is if there is a window, stand in a sunny spot.

Re: Male modeling
Well, well, bet no one expected the ole perve to chime in on this one, nooooo! Well you're in error, yuk, yuk, yuk. As might have been mentioned maybe once before, I am really a nudist. I know, it's hard to imagine, but it's true. And I really have no proof, will just have to take my word for it. What was the question? Oh ya, nude modeling. Guessing for me, and being in a good number of nudist settings, as well as more than a handful of art class's, I really don't think about it anymore than anyone else has to keep in mind, doing anything dressed. But seriously, I believe it has more to do with those drawing/painting/sculpting the human form, than the models' state of arousal, or not. Not just the fact I'm a long time nudist, but always seem not have any problem of control, in any setting. Easy for me to say huh? Wish you luck, and let us know how it goe's. Whew! I wrote a lot. Time for a nap.

Re: Male modeling
I've been in a fair few of those classes and I wouldn't worry about it much. Only one or two of the students will even be able to see your junk from their angle. Usually those folks are the more advanced drawers. Everyone else, picks angles that show you as a naked form, but genitalia usually is hidden from view. Besides, I don't really think the teacher in one of those classes, is going to have you in a spread eagle pose.
Most models, in my classes, pick something to stare at never looking a student in the eye. Keep your concentration on the task at hand. Nothing drives a student madder than a model with figged problem. You do that and all else will take care of itself.

Re: Male modeling
I guess we could assume Michelangelo's studio was a bit drafty and chilly?

If it was, David's prowess would have looked like a second belly button!...
