Favorite Christmas Show
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know we do this every year. But then again, we watch the same shows every year! Mine is Rich Little's "A Christmas Carol". It was made around 1978 and HBO used to show it until the mid 80's and fortunately I had made a VHS recording of it when A&E aired it, but the tape just got too old to play anymore. Last year my daughter got me the DVD, so now Im all set! I saw last week that there's a whole bunch of clips from it now on the Y tube

Re: Favorite Christmas Show
I know when we say "favorite" our minds rush to rank which shows we want to list. And these last few years both Hallmark Channel and Lifetime Channel have set the bar for quality Christmas/Holiday movies and shows. I've watched many of them repeatedly. BUT for me, it WOULDN'T be Christmas if I didn't get to watch, "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Yes it's a "cartoon". It was made and first aired in December 1965. I was 6. And now at age 52, I make no apologies for watching my "favorite" Christmas show. AND in my opinion, nobody shares the true meaning of Christmas better than good ol' Linus, his security blanket wrapped around his head in a shepherd's hat center stage; his recitation worthy of any children's Christmas play. Thank you Charles Shulz for your wonderful characters of my childhood.

Re: Favorite Christmas Show
No apologies necessary, Dark! I try to catch all animated shows, and Charlie Brown is on the top of the list. HOWEVER, the older ones are the best. There is a clear distinction in the changes in Charlie Brown, after Schultz passed.
The new ones are HORRIBLE!.... The characters are no longer charming.. but biting and nasty. Very sad to me.

Re: Favorite Christmas Show
in the 80's there was a made for tv movie, Christmas Comes to Willow Creek. it starred John Schnieder and Tom Wopat (aka Bo & Luke Duke) it was about a small town and how they lost their Christmas spirit. it's never on any more, but it was a favorite of mine, that and John Denver and the Muppets: a Christmas together.

Re: Favorite Christmas Show
This is one I really like and doubt many have seen, "One Magic Christmas", 1985, with Mary Steenburgen.
Ginny is a cynic, and she hates Christmas. Gideon, a Christmas angel, is sent, by Santa, to help Ginny Grainger. It also stars, Harry Dean Stanton.

Re: Favorite Christmas Show
There's so many. I've always liked Magoos Christmas Carol and bought the dvd for it this year. I have most of the holiday things on dvd as I seldom get to see them on tv.

Re: Favorite Christmas Show
Free I got to see Rich Little's A Christmas Carol in person. I had no idea how it was going to be. It was in Atlantic City and he was getting up there in years. It was a one man show so I really couldn't figure out how he was going to do it. I was so glad I went. It was so good. It had to be at least 10-15 years ago. I can't remember which one of my kids I took I just remember we loved it.I didn't know he had it on TV until after I saw that and he was selling the tapes or DVD's whatever they had at the time.lol He is such a great talent.I always love him and Frank Gorshin. Very few people do what they did and none do it as well.
My favorite live performance is The Nutcracker. My favorite movie is White Christmas with Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby. Favorite animated show is a tie between Frosty the Snowman and Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer. DAMN IT! Now I will have those damn songs stuck in my head all night.
