ENGLISH IDIOMS & IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS
I was working on a paper and came across some expressions. What are some expressions you use, or have heard. For example, "A watched pot never boils." Or, "If you lay down with dogs, you get fleas."
I think everyone knows of some.

Wooooooo! I'm higher than ten sacks of groceries!!!!
(Eh, I don't do that anymore)
Expression I don't use, but have heard all my life, and do understand is "Can't cut the mustard anymore"
(The reference to mustard is mustard grass or mustard weed, it's aggressive and invasive, difficult to cut back once it takes hold)

The blind hog finds an acorn.
Raining harder than a double cunted cow pissing on a flat rock.
(That last one, I remember from quite awhile back when I collected the more vulgar farmer sayings,)

Can't see the wood for the trees."The new manager found the situation so complicated that
he couldn't see the wood for the trees."
Put on your thinking cap.
"Are you referring to me?" "If the cap fits wear it!"

Re: ENGLISH IDIOMS & IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS
Iperves fav's, that I live by, (for real). "A penny saved, is a penny earned. Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without. If you have to ask how much it is, you can't afford it. Niether a lender, nor a barrow be." I like this one too,"If I lend you money, please pay me back before you did. I don't wanna chase all over hell looking for you." Kind cute huh? Jack Benny told me once "Damn you're cheap!" I listen to Dave Ramsey on the radio at times. A financial guy. Not so much though, as he's "Preaching to the chior (dammit, sp again)". He has a saying, "Live like no one else, and you'll live like no one else." I was way ahead of him. I got enough money to last me the rest of my life, providing I pass with-in the hour.

On the back burner.
Get off my back!
Back to the salt mines. Many can relate.
Back to square one.
Backhanded compliment.
Back-room boys.
This term refers to people who do important work but have no contact with the public.
In the back of beyond.
This expression is used to describe an isolated place located far from any town.

Your comment proves Darwin was right.
Ass deep to a tall Indian ~ Usually in reference to snow.
Happier than a gopher in fresh dirt.
Like a porcupine in a balloon factory.
Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes clear to the bone.

Give an inch, they will take a mile.
Icing on the cake. An extra benefit.
Idiot box. Some people consider television to lack educational value and refer to it as the idiot box.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
Ignorance is bliss.
In cahoots with someone.
In the heat of the moment.
