I can't pick one...every time I think of one, another enters my brain. If you haven't heard "Jungle Land" by Bruce Springsteen, it's a masterpiece, SO MANY! Jessica, by the Allman Brothers! Where to begin...I don't, I'll stop right here...lol

I would definitely consider "Rock and Roll All Night" in the Anthem league. The others are all good songs, (except for the Beastie Boys thing!  ) but In my opinion, dont fall into the category of an Anthem. Again, thats just my opinion. Im not familiar with Jungle, but Jessica is definitely a timeless classic, just like Black Sabbath's entire Paranoid album

That's the thing about music. You can ask this question a hundred times and get a hundred different answers. I know for me it depends on my mood at the time. I will say the list you gave Free is a good start at the ones I would have on my list. And Stair Way is the one that I think most can say at some point they felt was "THE" rock song of all time. But I know people who would say Tommy was it for them. Of course Bohemian Rhapsody is on the list but most people leave it off because they are to stoned at the time to spell it. Freebird is something you have to have on there or the rock gods will strike you down. I don't think it can be one song. It has to be a list and as time goes on the list will change.

You opened a whole big can of worms with this one thread Free! Kam had me listening to all kinds of music last night.lol Honestly I think the two most popular answers will be Freebird and Stairway but then when people start going through their music they will start debating themselves. There are some great songs out there. but what defines them as "Rock Anthems"? It's just to objective to give an answer and be right or wrong. I know we have all seen the lists that have been put out there "The Best Rock songs of all time, The Best Rock Ballad of all time,The Best Rock Star or Band of all time, The best whatever...." Then the inevitable argument begins. One thing is for sure. There are some great fucking songs out there!

Oh, totally! Like LandH said about Sweet Home Alabama. Personally, I think thats a better song than Freebird, but to me, it doesnt fall into the category of an Anthem. Kinda hard to explain.

I do think it would be awesome, if anyone could name some more songs passed the decades of 1970 and 1980.
Every decade and generation has their rock anthems.
(Thinking the only good music is the music you listened to "back in the day" kinda means....well,you've turned into your father)

I agree Chazzy. But if there is more music like that coming out, you really dont hear it on the radio anymore. Recently, Ive been listening to newer country artists, just to hear some good, new music. None of the monotone, twangy crap about a guy whos girl left him, he lost his job and ran over his dog with his pick up truck. Im talking some really well written songs with some really cool hooks, riffs and harmonies. These folks ARE getting air play and getting their music heard. If I say any more than that, I'll wind up sounding like a broken record.

if we talking nerd rock anthem then through the fire and flames, by dragon force. it sounds like a song that summarizes the lord of the rings movies. (someone actually said "someone has been watching lord of the rings too much)
