Re: Shit
I believe it was a thread I posted off topic (gee, imagine that?), about food prices. Don't recall which one it was, but won't bother to look. Yes, trust me, I, "El cheapo", am well aware of rising food costs. And it's not gonna get any better. Screw investing in gold, can't eat it. Invest in can openers, to open can's in your food storage. The preceeding, has been a public service announcment. Brought to you all, by the perveman. And, your welcome. (I may be a nut, but I pay attention)

Re: Shit
I am so thrilled I finally went shopping at ALDI grocery. It is not a big store, and I like that. Milk is $1.00 cheaper and I love milk. Fruit and vegetables are cheaper than even the produce stand. A bag of romaine $2, 3 large tomatoes, $1.5, bag of pears $1., apples $1.5, same with tangerines, $1.5 for a pineapple, and .29 for a grapefruit, versus $1.09 at the fruit stand.
To me this is a big deal to continue to get awesome, sweet delicious fruit. Strawberries will me cropped the in a couple of months. I missed out last year.

Re: Shit
That's great kiss, I love bargans. Once a month here, one store here, has 10% off. Gee, guess when I shop? And I beat the high cost of egg nogg, made my own. Came out surprisingly good. I have the time, and cook/bake, as much as I can from scratch. It's fun too!

Yep, average salaries are down, food and gasoline are up. Sounds about like what they're trying to accomplish. Teaching in Europe is sounding better and better every day.

Re: Shit
As it is in most markets, we have 2 major supermarket chains and I abhor going into either of them. ALDI's is great for produce and dairy products and even some of their "off brand" products are pretty good too. Then theres a local deli which is great for getting fresh meats and cold cuts at half the price of the supermarkets. Plus, I prefer to shop at local merchants. And for other things that I buy in large quantities, I go to the Restaurant Depot. You need to have a business certificate that proves that you're in the restaurant or hospitality industry to be able to get a membership, but there's some real bargains there.

Re: Shit
And Free, store brands a lot of times, is a major brand product, pachaged for them. Example: Skippy peanut butter, is in Kroeger jars, and sold at Fry's stores, at a reduced price. Good business for Skippy, as thier volume increases=more bucks. Generic/store brands, are not always inferior.
