Clothing Color choices of men
Just wondering, was with a man once a long time ago, he was a bit older but really a stickler about what colors were appropriate for men to wear.
Pink, definitely no, purple...rarely and only if it's the right shade of purple.
Do ya doodes think some colors are just too feminine for men to wear, pink, yellow, purple?

I think it has a lot to do with the person and the times. Remember the 70's?

Re: Clothing Color choices of men
Was the 70's as bad as the 80's? Now really, come on. I see older photos on another website, and see men wearing vivid green pants, red pants, an orange jacket. I still get shocked if I see a man in a pink, polo shirt. I know Anderson Cooper likes his purple tie.
Then, I can't but help to think of 2000. I had to deal with one particular group of attorneys, and it seemed they all had to dress like they belonged in GQ magazine.
Their suits were all monochromatic. Dark suit, dark shirt, and tie, perfect hair cuts. They were from south Florida, and all of the female supervisor acted liked idiots when they came into our office.

Re: Clothing Color choices of men
I think it is more about how they carry it off. I know my sons (Both straight) dress very differently than each other but love to dress well when going out. I have seen them wear every color you can imagine. If you know how to dress you can do that. I wouldn't think a pink suit would be OK but certainly a pink shirt or tie is appropriate these days and have seen it done well. Especially if using the color to work with their dates dress at a formal event.
My sons have been known to dress very GQ at times and other times very beach like and relaxed. I have also seen one of my sons wear some wild colors and plaids but for some reason with his personality he can pull it off. My other son has worn pink polo shits and it didn't seem feminine at all. It wasn't a florescent pink but it was pink. Your way of dress should fit your personality. I am not a ruffle and tool kind of personality so I don't wear stuff like that. It's the same for men. Just don't wear leisure suits!

Re: Clothing Color choices of men
Yeah, I think it depends on the time era and also location. Colors that work in South Florida or California you would typically never see in Chicago, Philly or New York. Personally I hated that whole Regis Philbin "Millionaire" style from the late 90's with the dark shirt and dark tie. But I'm from the old John Molloy school of thought that there are only 2 acceptable colors for a dress shirt, white and light blue.
I'll admit to being a bit of a clothes whore and have worn many different colors and styles over the years. However, I don't succumb to stereotypes - I wear whatever I think looks good on me.

Damn, I have a Cheeto colored shirt. It is a belly shirt, meaning it ties in the front rather than being tucked in. I will have to send it to you. It will look great with a cute little plaid skirt, fishnets, and heels.
Always thinking of you Free!

I used to own a tie-dyed dress shirt that appeared to be as though the colors of the rainbow puked on it...
