World Series
I'm following it, not a sports fan but it's the Cardinals so kinda hard not to. As far as evening TV, pretty good entertainment.

Re: World Series
I really wish they would stop naming football and baseball teams from different places the same names. It messes me up when trying to remember who is from where and I'm I trying to think is that the baseball or football team.
I used to be up on this stuff when I had to sell airtime but now I can't keep it straight.Especially now that seasons overlap.
I don't mind some sports on TV but baseball is a hard one to watch on TV.It does get boring but I love going to the games.

Re: World Series
What the St Louis Cardinals and the Phoenix Cardinals? At one time they were both in St Louis.
Or Are you talking the Texas Rangers and the NY Rangers. In that case you need to include hockey in your diatribes.

Re: World Series
See what I mean? Hockey, basketball, football, baseball, and sometimes soccer.Do you seriously expect me to keep this all in my brain? They even went and changed the damn uniforms to something I can't recognize on sight anymore.By the way whats up with those ugly football uniforms? But I happen to like the long pants on the baseball players. As long as all the sports teams that I watch keep those men in tight pants I will watch them. Now you know why I don't watch basketball.
By the way there is a friend of the family who is a professional baseball player. I have learned through the years there is so much more to the game than I ever knew.It really is interesting but you miss a lot when you are not seeing the game in person.Even the signs they use are interesting and most mean nothing at all. They are really watching for the few thrown in that do mean something and those are constantly changed to keep the other teams from knowing what they are saying.Just thought some who aren't that familiar with the game might like that info but those who are real baseball lovers probably already knew that.

I'm not upset about the Card's loss last night,it's just entertainment for me and I'm actually pleased that the games will continue back in St. Louis now.

Re: World Series
I'm in a town in Illinois that is only about 90 miles from Busch Stadium...but we ARE in Illinois...so there is this dynamic in town where half of the population is Cardinals fans, the other half CUBS fans (and, yeah...a smattering of White Sox fans...I know a guy who is originally from California who's actually a Dodgers fan...but people avoid him on the street).
I was born and raised in a Cardinals household. We really don't understand those Cubs fans...and we don't want to. Growing up, we were very tolerant...Catholic, Jew, Black, Hispanic...that was all very cool...but if you found out that the family that moved in down the street were Cubs fans, you didn't talk to them, we didn't play with their kids...there was usually no outright vandalism, but there would be neighborhood meetings discussing what should be done about "the problem".
A friend of mine's older brother fell in love with a girl who was from a Cubs household. They had to leave town. They eventually married and, last I hear, they are living out on the East Coast and cheering for the Mets or the Yankees or something like that (I at least hope it's an NL team). So very sad.
From what I understand, those Cubs fans believe that, since they are in Illinois, they need to support the "home" team. Even though we are 400 miles from Chicago and nobody north of I-80 gives a damns about us downstaters. We Cards fans, on the other hand, like how friendly St. Louis is as a city...and it is JUST across the river...and so close to us...and, a big plus, THE CARDS WIN!! Those Cubs fans have to talk to great, great grampa to hear the second hand stories that HIS dad told about the last time the Cubs won a Series! It's been a generation since they won a pennant!
So I am very happy about our current series run. I try not to flaunt it too much, but I have noticed that many of the known Cubs fans in town have their windows boarded up and they are keeping their homes dark at night...especially the nights of playoff games. I don't think they are aware that baseball is played in October...at least I know they've never seen it.
GO CARDS!!
(and, yeah...that whole football team moving to Arizona thing sucked...they can CALL them the St. Louis Rams, but they're still from California as far as I'm concerned...)

Re: World Series
Hey Luv2, I'm glad you don't take this to seriously. Some sports fans can be a bit a crazy. Don't ya think? lol
I got a beautiful embroidered sweat suit suit that was really expensive and well made as a gift for my son when I was pregnant. My husband(Now ex-husband) went fucking nuts and said there was no way I was putting a "Jets" (Said with a gagging sound and a spit after the word.) anything on "HIS" kid. Yeah, you know who won that battle right?lol

Re: World Series
Good series really! I prefer something suspensful than a clear sweep.
Rally squirrel was cute when it was a squirrel running acorss the field, but all hyped stuff I'm not liking that much.

Re: World Series
Of course it was. I love making fun of people that really are that crazy and superstitious about things like sports or gambling. It seems those two things can take a perfectly intelligent person and turn them into a crazy superstitious person that does things like not change their socks because it might jinks the team.lol
I hope you get to go to that 7th game. I love when games or a series is close. It makes it much more exciting.Have a great time.

I truly enjoyed your first post, I got it, I know your humor. There is something unique about Cubs fans.
They called a rain out on game six, hope that's not gonna mess with your plans too much and I do agree, St. Louis is pretty friendly as far as cities go. St. Louis is a happy place right now. Before the playoffs there were some serious financial issues and now at least 7000 jobs are saved and much of the downtown is enjoying a bit of a boom.

Re: World Series
The Rangers were nothing less than awesome! I loved that their seemed to be a not just friendly component, but also that there seemed to be a high level of mutual respect between the teams and their fans.
I was hoping of course, for the Cards to win, but I gotta say I would have been very happy for the Rangers to walk away with their first World Series win too.
A very suspenseful series. I do hope, and think so...that any Ranger fans that stayed over for the rain out game, had a great time in the city.

(Hey, Chazzy! Sorry about the delay in reporting in...got back early in the morning on Saturday 4 hours sleep, then a hugely busy weekend. Sorry to leave you hanging!)
Thanks so much Julianna for the kind words!! (always heard you Texans were both honorable and polite...glad to see it's true!). Game 7 ROCKED...I was in front of the Hardee's Pavilion (with the big lighted sign) right along the the third base line. The whole atmosphere the entire game was electric. Even with a four run lead we were sweating every single out. I stayed for the party in downtown until about 2am then caught the train out of town. There was NO driving anywhere within six blocks of the stadium. I parked at a Casino across the river. It was AWESOME!! Go Cards! (and thanks Rangers for being such worthy opponents...Game 6 was an edge of the seat rollercoaster that, well, maybe, just MAYBE, we kinda stole...maybe! What a GAME! That was some AMAZING baseball!)
