Halloween Costumes
I was just invited to an adult Halloween costume party...I am trying to decide what to be. Either the costumes are too goofy or incredibly seductive. I don't know many of the people attending so I am not certain about the "adult" nature of the crowd.
What are you going to be? Any suggestions would be helpful...

Re: Halloween Costumes
Well, always lots of suggestions. We usually try to dress up differently a few nights. And, you can go online, in a store, or a thrift shop if you want to create a costume.
There are many of the general type of costumes, Vampire, Werewolf, Witch, Mummy, Devil, Angel, Bride of Frankstein.
I know one year my gf went as a baby, and another had this one shoulder exotic animal print, with a head band, and big hair (thanks to me). I still laugh because it took her 20 min to apply that black lipstick.
Then, there are current theme costumes, for example, last year they did Kate + 8, the Octomom, or the spokeperson for Geico. Unfortunately, I know they made mask of Casey Anthony.. and this I would advise against!

Re: Halloween Costumes
When I used to dress up I always thought the fun was making the costumes myself. I loved making my kids costumes and they always seemed much better than the store bought crap. They also cost much less to make. The few times I did use premade were from a professional costume rental that TV and Movie sometimes rent from. They are open to the public in some cases but many people don't know that. You can find much nicer costumes there and you just rent them. They have a much bigger selection of ideas and sizes as well. The accessories can be really fun as well.
Commercially,Halloween is bigger than Christmas these days.We have the largest Halloween parade in the country in Toms River so its a bid deal here. The surrounding towns change the day to trick or treat so it doesn't interfere with the parade because most people go to that.I though I was going to be off the hook for going but my son just told me he has to be on the float and in costume for the business so looks like I will have to go . (I always bring a huge thermos of coffee and hot cocoa for the guys on the float.lol At least I don't have to build the float. That takes about a week of these guys working their asses off. Each year the theme changes and the floats are all competing. They take this crap very seriously down here.
As for you needing ideas... How about a Court Jester? You can make it sexy or not. I did it when I had a Halloween wedding to go to and I was pregnant and I needed a costume. Its easy to make or find in stores. You can do the sexy version or the more silly version. It's also comfortable and can make it warmer if outside by adding layers like turtlenecks under the tunic and tights or leggings. Lots of ways to make it what ever you might need.

I have a solution to your problem. Go as an ER patient who took Cialis and is experiencing an erection lasting 4 hours or more! You could totally pull that one off!

Will be going to a party, naked, except for furry white shoe's, and hat to match, going as a Q-tip. Last year with a broom stick up my butt, camera on my head, went as a tri-pod.

So, what costumes have you decided on Julianna?
Flash Dance is back, and The Three Musketeers. Zombies are all the rage. Warning: Stay away from eye the contacts. If you like Sons of Anarchy, you can go as a biker.

Re: Halloween Costumes
Candy Corn Cocktail
1 1/2 cups vodka
1 cup candy corn
3/4 cup pineapple juice
Ice
To make candy corn-infused vodka, mix vodka and candy corn in jar; seal tightly. Let stand at least 4 hours.
2 Strain vodka to remove candy.
3 For each serving, in chilled cocktail shaker, place 1/2 cup infused vodka and 1/4 cup pineapple juice; add ice. Shake; pour into martini glass. If desired, garnish each glass with additional candy corn.

Re: Halloween Costumes
I know this sounds crazy to most but I have never seen Twilight or Eclipse. My time is so limited between my career and my kids that I don't get to enjoy movies and TV. I carry around books all the time and love sneak in a few minutes whenever I can. I know there are books but I have my favorite authors...
Perhaps I can do the vampire next year...

Re: Halloween Costumes
i've been wanting to go as a diner waitress (think of the 70's tv show Alice)...but i've been scouring the local thrift stores and garage sales for a few years now, and haven't been able to find the right dress to wear.
my best costume i ever wore was when i was 18 yrs old. i went to my then brother-in-law's Alcoholics Anonymous dance as a pregnant woman. (of course i had lots of help from my older sisters with the hair and make-up) i had everyone fooled. (and everyone was sober of course) i came in 2nd place to a Ninja.
i've also dressed as a basket of dirty laundry. i just cut the bottom of a laundry basket, stuffed some old, dirty clothes around me, and used a pair of suspenders to hold it up.

Re: Halloween Costumes
I went to my sons bar tonight. It is an outdoor bar so it was the last party until next summer. (Kind of sad). But they had a great crowd for the Halloween party. The had amazing decorations and even dug a grave and had a skeleton in it. The had fire pits to keep everyone warm. They showed horror movies on a huge screen. They had a band, wrestling matches and karaoke. They have giant versions of a bunch of games like connect 4 and Jenga as well as few others.I laughed because they had bobbing for apples and carved pumpkins everywhere as well. They were very creative. Almost everyone came in costume. I have to admit it was fun even though I am pretty much Halloweened out already.I loved so many of the costumes. The Karaoke person came dressed as Jessica Rabbit. Yes she had the body for it. She did the song from the movie as well so it was cute. They had everything from nun's to cops and one guy came as a kissing booth. It was a telephone booth and he was inside with a blonde wig. There were to many costumes to mention them all but It was one of the best Halloween parties I've been to in years. Everyone was all about fun. No fights no stupid falling down drunks. Everyone that was trashed seemed to have a designated driver, which made me feel better. I have to mention this one girl who came as a sexy female version of Edward Sizzerhand. She looked great and won the contest.I hope everyone has a nice Halloween. Be safe.
