Servers & Search Engines
I use Mozilla Firefox because I was told that it was more secure than Internet Explorer. Then a buddy's computer took a shit on him and the guy he took it to to fix it said that because Explorer was more widely used, it has far more security updates than the rest of them, including Google Chrome.
For search engines, I normally just open Google rather than Ask, Bing, etc. This one isn't really a preference, it's just what I'm in the habit of using.
Real juicy topic, huh?

Re: Servers & Search Engines
Now that's a good one from Micro$oft!!
It has more security updates because it has more security flaws!!! One may argue that it has more features (usually support for other Micro$oft technology) but the question is whether you need them?
I use Chrome by choice and IE where mandated for work.
As for Search Engines, Google is bar far the market leader although I'm getting increasingly frustrated with their attempts to do things for me (e.g. auto-complete the phrase I'm entering) and the amount of paid advertising results - but I guess they have to generate revenue somehow...

Re: Servers & Search Engines
I have sat through this debate more times than I care to think about. My family computer geeks fight about this a lot. The one thing they all agree on is that IE Sucks!!!!Yes it has more fixes because it has more problems.I remember when the only debate was IE or Netscape. Yeah well those days are long gone! I know most of us are using Chrome. But you have to take more than your browser into the equation. For example: What type of computer are you using, what operating system are you using, what do you do when on your computer, what Internet provider are you using. All these things each in them selves can have issues. Some work better with other and some are not compatible at all.
Things like viruses are not nearly as much of an issue for me because most viruses are written for windows bases systems. Although there are some changes happening in that world as well. They are starting to see more viruses written for phones for example. Not that long ago it was unheard of. People that write these viruses do it so they get the most bang for their buck. That being said obviously the biggest target is the most popular things on the market. Most computers come the programs that have the most problems.
