Re: 9 - 11
Thanks for putting this back up Kiss. The one I got started last night got taken down by mistake.
I got my "No First Responder Left Behind" dog tags and my 911 Memorial wristbands in the mail yesterday. I'll be wearing those for some time to come!
(Dark, if you read this, please re-post what you said about your dad.)

Re: 9 - 11
This day makes me sick every year. I avoid watching much of the coverage. This year is a bit harder being the 10th anniversary it has been on all week. The added high security that we are under is amping things up even more. In the sense of terrorizing this nation the terrorists has won on some level which makes me sick. The fact that they have had the power to change the way we go about our daily lives frustrates me more than words can explain.
My brother was up for an Emmy for the show Inside911 and yet I can't stand to watch it today and haven't watched it in quite a while. My daughter has been watching it in school all week as well as some other shows he did on the subject for history channel yet I still get to pissed to watch it even when she asks about it. I haven't gone down to ground zero since this happened and I get pissed about that when I think about it.I just can't get past the anger. I cry at stupid times when I'm at an event that brings it up. I hate everything about that day and wish I could wipe it out of my mind.
There are very few things that stand out in a persons mind that you just know will be burned into your mind with every detail. A birth of a child, a marriage, a family member passing away. I've had those. I feel like I have procreate emotions with those. Happy when I think of my children being born and sad when I think of my father passing away. But I just have so many emotions with 911 that seem out of the normal range and confused. Anger is definitely one of them. Sadness for all that were lost but especially those who I knew and grew up with and more than anything a deep and over the top sense of frustration mixed with the anger.
My nature is to be a problem solver. I do it with friends and family and even at work I was the go to person. I can't fix any of this and I hate what it has done on an over all level of course but on a personal level when I know how it changed my families life I always wish I could kill everyone involved that had something to do with what happened that day.If you asked me if I could ever kill a person before this happened I think my answer would have been only if they were a threat to me or my family. I think If given the opportunity I could pull a trigger at anyone who had anything to do with this and sleep quit well that night.

Re: 9 - 11
Never Forget
Do you remember that September morning when Hell
Flew in from the sky?
And after all the rubble and the smoke had cleared
Three thousand people died
Do you remember how all those flags came out?
Remember all the fear and rage?
And now just a few short years have passed
And some think we've turned the page
Dont think we cant be hit again
Just because we havent been hit yet
Its one thing to remember
Oh but we can never
Never forget. Never forget
Do you remember that day how a portion of their plans
Crashed in South West PA?
If it werent for all the Heroes on Flight 93
There'd be far more dead today
Do you remember how those Twin Towers burned?
And how the crashed into the ground?
Do you remember how we shook our fists and screamed
From Patriotic ground?
If you think thats all behind us now
Ooh, I wouldnt take that bet
There's one thing that we must remember
Is that we can never
Never Forget. Never Forget
Dont tell me to be tolerant
I'll spend my time being vigilant
Cuz to me it's pretty evident
That another attack is imminent
Dont think we cant be hit again
Just because we havent been hit yet
Its one thing to remember
Oh but we can never
Never forget. Never forget

Re: 9 - 11
Heroes Turned To Angels
I could not believe the tragedy
Still I couldn't move my eyes
The fires of Hell were burning
And things were falling from the skies
Who could harbor this much hatred?
And who would want to maim and kill?
And why should those of us still living
Have to take this bitter pill?
And the Heroes turned to to angels
They gave their lives for someone else
They heard all the cries for help
Now they hear God's Holy Bells
And the Heroes turned to angels
They risk their lives to keep us free
To us the Ange;s will be Heroes
For all Eternity
Smoke clouded up the heavens
And things were falling to the ground
For some unholy reason
And with some ungodly sound
And so many who were sacrificed
Couldn't even say good bye
Through all the wreckage on the ground below
We just hang our heads and cry
And the Heroes turned to to angels
They gave their lives for someone else
They heard all the cries for help
Now they hear God's Holy Bells
And the Heroes turned to angels
They risk their lives to keep us free
To us the Ange;s will be Heroes
For all Eternity
I don't care which uniform you wear
They all mean respect to me
Fire, Police or Medic
Or the brave Military
They're all Freedom Fighter
They risk their lives for this great land
And those who did this to us,
Soon they too will understand
We'll mourn those who have left us
And embrace those who survived
We'll dust off these United States
And together we will fight
Our lives have changed forever
And things will never be the same
Don't they know that there's one life to live
This isn't just some evil game
And the Heroes turned to to angels
They gave their lives for someone else
They heard all the cries for help
Now they hear God's Holy Bells
And the Heroes turned to angels
They risk their lives to keep us free
To us the Ange;s will be Heroes
For all Eternity

Re: 9 - 11
Its important to remember the 2977 people who lost their lives, 10 years ago today. However it's equally as important to remember the some 6200 service men and woman who have died as a result of those attacks, and the thousands more who were wounded. Plus the approximate 1000 first responders who have died of cancers since 9-11 resulting from the toxins they were exposed to.

Re: 9 - 11
I saw the posts about the mistaken removal of the 9/11 thread posted by Freensleazy. And our dear Chazzy sent me an email also explaining the accident that occurred. Some mentioned reposting and when Kiss started this new thread and Free reposted his song lyrics I thought I would post some thoughts. In my original post I mentioned that as a son of a firefighter and spending 30 years in the medical community and as a member of a medical team trained to respond to the needs of others, I was upset that first responders were purposely NOT invited to the 10 year Memorial Anniversary Ceremony in NYC. To me, that's like holding an anniversary and not inviting the husband or wife, or having a birthday celebration and not having the birthday guy or gal there. We certainly need to better understand our priorities when we hold these memorials and celebrations.
Since posting yesterday evening and today, I have watched the Memorial ceremony in pretty much it's entirety this morning and through my own moments of tears was very impressed and moved by what I saw televised.
I also was moved that in the comments made by broadcasters and some that shared they quoted the passages I had used from President Abraham Lincoln. Which as I started to re-post today made me think, it's difficult to re-post exactly the same wording of my thoughts, but my words aren't worthy of being remembered, but the lives and actions of all those on that eventful day and subsequent situations are truly what should be remembered. For those that may have heard them spoken today, or had the chance to read my original post last night here are the words spoken by President Lincoln as he spoke at the dedication of the National Cemetary at Gettysburg, PA ... "we are met on a great battlefield of that war ... We are met to dedicate a portion of it as a final resting place ... But in a greater sense we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this ground, the brave men living and dead who fought here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract ... The world will very little note nor long remember what we say here, but they will never forget what they did here".
With these thoughts posted once more, let me also give my thanks again to my friend, Free for sharing these amazing songs of his in tribute to this memorial weekend.

Re: 9 - 11
Now that the pomp and circumstance of the 10th anniversary is winding down, ponder this: So we hit 10. It was just as bad as 1-9. Its a digit. The day is the day, not the anniversary. And next year is 11. Tomorrow is the day after the tenth anniversary. My point is this. These people are still just as dead 10 years later. The number isnt the symbol, the people that were massacred are.
