Re: have ya tried them?
Lately I've been burning my tongue on those new Doritos. The, "Sweet Chili" one starts out just that, sweet, but eat enough of them and your tongue goes numb. They creep up on ya...

Milk puts out the fire.
Please explain to me why people eat things that burn like that? I never ate hot spicy food but so many people I know do. They also say the hotter the better. The hottest thing I will eat is blackened chicken and I have to have a drink right there as I eat it.

I used to eat hot stuff for the feelings that followed. It was the, "feet-on-the-ground equivalent of jumping out of an airplane!" I used to show off my talent that I could do something very few would even attempt... ever! Later it became a matter of taste and the feeling of having something so hot, in your mouth, that it made your lips buzz. Later on it became a matter of not being able to eat a certain food unless it was mouth searing hot. It was kind of a religious thing like runners who can't stop running, even when they are hurting. Now I eat hot stuff on rare occasions like; a prize fighter who can't quit all together...

Re: have ya tried them?
I love your answer GG. The only thing I ever see when people are eating really hot or spicy food is a childish completion of "I can eat hotter food than you and not go into cardiac arrest!" They have TV shows about it. Although it is funny to watch at times I wonder does anyone really enjoy it or is it always about the bragging rights? By the way when I said the part about going into cardiac arrest I am serious, I almost had to rush my ex-husband to the hospital because he ate so many hot peppers that he was looking really scary. He just wouldn't go and lived through it. I'm still not sure if he really didn't have a minor heart attack.

Re: have ya tried them?
Yeah, I like my food to still taste like food. A dash of this, a pinch of that, a little heat sometimes.
It wasn't that long ago was it, that all the news/media was reporting the physical harm caused by people doing the Tabasco drinking games?
