speaking of pics
i would like to hear the opinion of some women on what type of pics they prefer to see? i had a friend recently comment on my profile pic saying that it is refreshing to see something other than just cock pics. is this the general concensus?

Gotta agree with LandH, the guy's not directly asking "Look at my Pics/rate me" This post is perfectly fine here.
We have our guidelines for moving posts to other forums, there's a long set of reasons why and when we decide to move or delere topics.
The profile forum was added years ago when we had a huge surge of "What do you think of my pics" posts over running the GD forum.
What kind of pics is fine in this forum and has shown up more than once here, and is most often a good topic for discussion.
I did research this years ago and wrote up a post based on surveys and polls. Times have changed, the site has changed some of that information is not applicable here anymore so I won't bump it or hyperlink it.
I do remember while writing the article, when it came to women and what they prefer to see is ...number one...the face, especially smiling, number two...if you have a nice torso, definitly post that...last on the list was the dic pic...you just tend to blur into a sea of thousands of other dic pics, one just starts looking like the others. Not memorable.
Choose something besides a dic pic for your main photo, and save the dic pics for secondaries or albums.
If anyone feels a topic should be moved or removed, we'd prefer you just write and tell us about it. Sometimes our newest members need just a little time to check out the site, get used to the atmosphere and rules, and get settled in a bit. Let's keep it friendly and give them that time, some of our most loved and favorite long time members had a rocky or akward start here.

Sure, but on adult sites, most male profiles have a dic pic as a main pic, so it's kind of an oversaturation thing, all the photos start looking alike, not good if you want to stand out and be remembered...it's not what women want to see first. Men are more visually aroused so graphic photos work for them, women are a little different. (If someone could google, copy and paste for me the stuff about men being visual, ya know how men and women's brains are aroused differently..it's all over the internet, I'd so appreciate that)

It's a personal choice. I don't like the cock shots. They do start to all look the same. I like creative pictures. Something that speaks to your personality. I love when I can tell a bit about a person by their profile pic. Keep in mind I rarely even go into a profile to view the other photos. I like to know a person first before I even know what they look like. But as you will see some people put up pictures with their guitars for instance. Those guys are usually into music more specifically guitar players. Some people are just very creative in general and change their profile pic to something different every once in a while and it is just a great creative visually interesting picture. I like those types of things. The worst are what I have on mine.(NOT fishing for a complement so please don't) But mine are not up for me, they are up by request. If I ever stop being lazy I might change them.I don't have a problem with them in the sense that people seem to enjoy them. I just feel that profile pictures should say something about the person whose profile it is.

The research and theroies are about how differently men and women are visually stimulated. The studies go back decades and most recent ones have even used MRI machines to map what stimulates what part of the brain.
The theory involves evolution, that men developed the ability to become aroused very quickly just at the sight of a woman in order to be able to make those DNA deposits and spread the seed, women developed differently because of their vulnerablity during pregnancy and while rearing children, they evolved to be more selective about what DNA their children would carry, and any mates were capapble of being good provider and protecter while they were indisposed with pregnancy and childrearing.
Both sexes are visually stimulated just in a different way.

while, of course, i do enjoy a full on nude pic...I must say that I more often enjoy some that leave a little mystery. Lingerie pics and those of the like. and any that show a little tan line...  ...where do I start?! Don't get me wrong though, completely tan is super sexy!
