Favorite Drinking Songs
I'm surprised we've never done this before. If we did, I couldnt find it when I searched. And I have a feeling that I know who will be the top contributors will be. Im not gonna name names, but I bet the ones with most to say have names here that rhyme with Iwant2pinchuallovr, homelyandcorney, nerveband and jazzy.
I'll start.
Margaritaville
Its 5 Oclock Somewhere
Theres plenty more, but Im not gonna use them up in the first post

Re: Favorite Drinking Songs
You win the gold star on that contributer deal free. So, tell the truth, or make it up? Mmmm. Ok, I'll be honest and tell. My dad, step-dad, a few uncles (all gone) were alcoiolics. One uncle, part Black Foot indian, was so bad, they creamated him. Took 3 days to put the fire out. Asking me what was MY favorite drinking song? Well, all of them, and (sadly, if you only knew), none of them. BURN OUT! Can't even remember songs I did in 3 rock bands. But was'nt ALL the "partying", was also 100 years ago. Yuk, yuk, yuk. There it is. Then again, the greatest rock song of all time (in my opinion) "Hotel California" I used to slur it a lot. So there you go free. And if it was'nt you, this topic may have hurt the ole perves feelings. Carry on. P.S. How doe's ONE person play the lead in "Hotel Califonia", when 2 did it. I got pretty close though.

Re: Favorite Drinking Songs
It wasnt intended to hurt anyone's feelings. Or for that matter, their livers, kidneys or the occasional murdering of brain cells.
It's been my experience that drinking songs are typically written with a very clever and ironic humour.
That being said, I hereby issue a blanket apology to anyone I have ever offended, am offending right at this moment, and anyone that I'm sure I'll offend in the future.
(Lord I apologize for that and please be with them starvin pygmies down there in New Guinea.)

Glad I could amuse you, and did'nt hurt my feelings, I did a good enough job hurting most relevant organs. And yes, I love cats. Took me 3 hours to bury one once, kept trying to get away. Reeoww! Scratching and carrying on. We've all been through it.

Re: Favorite Drinking Songs
Hmmm, I am suppose to remember? Drinking songs? Hmmm?
Eagles - One Of These Nights, Waylon Jennings - I've Always Been Crazy, Waylon Jennings& Willie Nelson - Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys, Waylon Jennings - Luckenback, Texas, Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme Three Steps, Eric Clapton - Layla, Cocaine, Bob Seger - Turn the Page, Riders On the Storm - The Doors, Brick House - Commodores, Billy Squier - Everybody Wants You, My Sharona - The Knack, Long Cool Woman - The Hollies, Born in the U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen, I Love Rock 'n' Roll - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes, Super Freak - Rick James, Billy Idol - White Wedding, Samantha Fox - Touch Me, You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC, Start Me Up - Rolling Stones, Love Shack - B-52s, Lenny Kravitz "American Woman", Lenny Kravitz "Are You Gonna Go My Way", Enter Sandman - Metallica.
There are hundreds more. It really doesn't take much for me to be in the mood for some tasty beverage. Now, for what you were really getting at. See, I do pay attention.
Garth Brooks - "Friends in Low Places", AC/DC - "Have a Drink on Me"
There is one we would sing but I don't know the name, just the verse, "We're going to the Pub. Oh yes, we're going to the Pub!" done in an English accent.

Re: Favorite Drinking Songs
I was a bar tender for 11 years. Every bar had their own that were big when people would drink they would all jump in and sing.Being I don't drink or sing (you should thank me for both)I can only go by what I have witnessed. In the rock bars it was always Pianoman, Big Shot and Paradise by the dashboard light. Country bars it was All my ex's live in Texas and Rocky Top. The neighbor bar was Mack the Knife.
There was an Italian song that I wish I could remember but I remember that each each had to add their line and it was almost always dirty and funny. It was a piano bar.

Just a side note free. I grew up in the 60(Born in 62) through now. I think you stretch this thread a bit and include more than just drinking. (Not that I am admitting to doing anything else.)I know I can come up with songs about "Other" things.
But to stay on what you started:I DRINK ALONE, BY GEORGE THOROGOOD

Re: Favorite Drinking Songs
Back in the day, the bar to which I was a bouncer, we played songs by tape player. The last call song was; "Piano Man" by Billy Joel. Last call was ended when the song ended. Later it became; "Stay" by Jackson Browne and before the bar sold it was; "Closing Time" by Semisonic...

One of my favorite "Last call" songs. The Load out song/Stay by Jackson Browne (I am almost embarrassed to say I thought Billy Joel sang this for years!) I would swear I heard him sing it at one of his concerts. I have been to several of his.

The Scotsman
We could have a sing a long.
*clears throat*
Well a Scotsman clad in kilt left a bar on evening fair
And one could tell by how we walked that he drunk more than his share
He fumbled round until he could no longer keep his feet
Then he stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street
Ring ding diddle diddle I de oh ring di diddly I oh
He stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street
C'mon, everybody sing...
