The Bee Gees
Do you like them, remember them as only a fond memory of another era and have some of their stuff in your collection or a reminder of a dark age of music, do hate them but have to restrain yourself from bopping your head or even dancing a bit when you're forced to hear them or do you have a strong physical response, like jumping up yelling "Oh Gawd NOOOOOO!" and try to create as much distance as possible?

Ahh yes. Perfected my voice after them, Bobby Hatfield, and Vanilla Fudge. Tried mimmiking guitar playing after Page and Clapton. They were all truly inspiring.

Re: The Bee Gees
They were amazing, especially the early years, "TO love somebody", "Words", "I started a joke"..( not sure about that title but a great song....The joke was on me.) I saw them on a showtime...one of those channels do a show where they played nearly every song you can imagine by them...and even the songs I didn't care for, mostly the disco era were incredible live. For all the years they'd been around at that point they still nailed every single song. No denying the great talent, and what a gift I feel they were to the music industry....again the early years, they gave us some huge gifts in music I think.

Re: The Bee Gees
They had some good tunes back in the day. Some that have appealed to today's generation. If they can live beyond their heyday says a lot about them. Me personally had some tunes I liked. I wasn't all gaga about Andy like some of my friends back then. Pete Willis was mmmm. Lets see who knows who that is.

Re: The Bee Gees
I liked them. I wouldn't say they were in my top 5 or anything. If you were around when Saturday Night Fever came out you couldn't avoid them. They played their music all over. I didn't realize until recently that they wrote for many other well known artists, including Diana Ross. So those who think they don't like the Bee Gees would be surprised at how many of their songs are loved and well known but just not preformed by them.

Re: The Bee Gees
Well that goes for all disco in my opinion....Like them or not they had their own tight harmonized sound and there's many songs they did I don't like as much as the older stuff but a song like "Nobody gets to much love anymore" is vocally great...there's some artists or groups I DON'T like yet have to admit,, they are good at what they do. Now....Disco, Disco sucked...If I saw KC from the sunshine band in public somewhere, I might walk over and slap him upside the head without saying a word, lol....Our guitar player used to crack me up as I'd mention someone I HATED, and be going on about them and he'd get this hilarious goofy grin on his face and say "Well yes, BUT they have a video"...always made me laugh.

Hey I saw KC and the Sunshine Band at a fair not that long ago. I think 2 years ago.lmao They were better than I thought. I thought we were going to have to put in ear plugs when I heard they were there but I was pleasantly surprised. I think it was more that they were kind of joking around with the audience that made it fun. But the best was my daughters face when they started playing . Then a few songs in she just looked at me and said "Don't ever say a word about the music I listen to!"

NIGHT!
Kam, Buddy, Ive missed ya. But really? The Bay City Rollers? Its on Dude. Maybe I should start a new thread for this, but for now, its Paper Lace! (what a name foor a band huh? where the hell did they think THEY were goin?}
n the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago died
And they talk about it still
When a man named Al Capone
Tried to make that town his own
And he called his gang to war
With the forces of the law
I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be
I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed
And the sound of the battle rang
Through the streets of the old east side
'Til the last of the hoodlum gang
Had surrendered up or died
There was shouting in the street
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
Bout a hundred cops are dead
I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!
I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed
And ther was no sound at all
But the clock upon the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my mama's face
And he brushed her tears away
The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed
The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be
The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed
And then to have that Polka sound in there! DEAR GOD!

Leo Sayer, Long Tall Glasses
I was travellin' down the road
Feelin' hungry and cold
I saw a sign sayin'
Food and drinks for everyone
So naturally I thought
I would take me a look inside
I saw so much food
There was water coming from my eyes
Yeah, there was ham and there was turkey
There was caviar
And long tall glasses
With wine up to y'are
And somebody grabbed me
Threw me out of my chair
Said "before you can eat
You gotta dance like fred astaire"
You know I can't dance
you know I can't dance
You know I can't dance
you know I can't dance
I can't dance
Ok, enough of that

I was just thinking about the Archie's.LMAO I have been on FB talking to a bunch of people from my old school/ neighborhood and people were bringing up old places/songs and things in general from that time 70'-80's. Someone was trying to remember who sang a song with "sugar bear" in the words. I was thinking Archie's but I think she was thinking the Elton John song.I suck at those games when you guess what lyric goes to what song or group.
OK But anyway, who would have a band based on a cartoon? Besides Josie and the Pussycats. That's just strange.
