The last launch
The last launch of the space shuttle is today.
I can't even imagine being rocketed into space, it must be a mix of intense exhilerlation and extreme fear. Something just totally unique to that experience.

Re: The last launch
Well, maybe. They're not sure because of the weather. It's kind of sad though.

Re: The last launch
Shuttle launch happening right now! A beautiful day. It is off!!!
I've seen a launch once before while having dinner with my Uncle. I also remember the Challenger space shuttle disaster in 1986. I was working at the Post Office and stood on the dock. So very sad.

Re: The last launch
I can't imagine ever doing it myself. I am to much of a coward. Besides I am claustrophobic so could never wear the suit or be in that shuttle for as long as they are.
I always found the whole space thing fascinating. If you want to get a taste of it and how it is for them go to The Challenger air and space museum and experience in Arizona. The have them in a few other places but I don't know if they offer the same things. They do a mock Shuttle mission. You get to be part of the crew on the ground and in the ship. Its very interesting and not very expensive. They have a few different ones you can do. It's definitely fun. They can have some kids but its not for young kids. Some parts are for adults only. You really do get to have an interesting experience.
