Re: Courtesy of the Red White And Blue
Newbs, that was from back after 9-11. I forget if it was Peter Jennings or Tom Brokaw wouldnt let Toby sing this song on the show that was being aired. Apparently, after flying airplanes into the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon and killing almost 3000 innocent people, NBC thought that it would be politically incorrect for some one to speak the truth in a song. If ya dont know the song, find the video on youtube. I defy you to not have a tear in your eye after you watch those brave men and women cheering and hi fiving at the words Toby sings. I just pray to God (yes, I said God!) that all of the people that were in that video are still alive. NBC? SHAME ON YOU!

Re: Courtesy of the Red White And Blue
OH I didn't know about that. I lived here but most of our networks were off air for days after 911.It didn't matter because everyone was so busy with collecting or working down there. We wouldn't have been watching much TV anyway.Besides the fact that my brothers wedding was a few days later and trying to keep things together for that.
We were all kind of in a daze at the time. I am not sure what people were thinking. I remember David Letterman wondering when he should go back on air and what he should say and do. Like many other shows as they finally came back up. It was just total fly by the seat of your pants. I just hope we never experience anything like that again. Not something I like to think about but its not likely to ever be out of my mind either.
I wont go into all the details but lets just say I know people at different networks and I don't know exactly what happened with that song . I do know that they ALL lost people that day and just didn't know what to do. Just this one time you might want to think about it from that standpoint. Coming from me that says a lot. I never forgive. But that time was a time people were just not thinking with a clear head.I know you wouldn't know this but they (The networks)had people at the top of the tower when it went down and they all died that day.Everyone was angry, sad and confused at the same time.

Re: Courtesy of the Red White And Blue
i believe it was the line "We'll put a boot in yer ass..." that sparked the controversy. yesterday (7/8/2011)was Toby Keith's 50th birthday!

Yep, thats exactly what it was all about. A journalist censoring. How ironic is that?
