Re: Hot Game
In my memory, it was John McEnroe, Steffi Graf, the guy who married Brooke shield and Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi.
However, to me this question involves what year? Once upon a time it was only Bobby Riggs, Jimmy Connors, Chrissy Evert, and Billie Jean King. Arthur Ashe, Bjorn Borj.
Now you have the tennis killing machines sister, Serena and Venus Williams. However, there are so many, I cannot acurately give you the current top 3 with out looking it up.
Top 3 race car drivers.

Re: Hot Game
I will just go with first off I believe in his day the greatest player, gentleman on the court, Bjorn Borg, Jimmy Connors finally grew out of his bratty ways, but back then I'd love to see Borg kick Connors ass...and he did McEnroe too..although I can't deny their gift for the game. Borg would get a bad call, he might, might look over to the judge but I never once heard him say a word. He'd just serve three-four aces in a row after that. I used to play tennis daily in the summer from about 11 am till dark sometimes which would be 9-10 pm..Borg was my hero..When Connors nearly won the U.S. open at such a late age for a tennis pro anyway, I by then liked him. As I said, he grew up..Mac never did. All great players though. Martina Navratilova was at one point almost unbeatable. I prefer the pre-oversized head, non-graphite racket days. The Williams sisters are great but put the same racket in Martinas hands, or Borg and they'd have owned the court. I really didn't pick three..lol, I just lived tennis years ago, so many greats...longevity says alot as some had short stints at the top....High tech has taken away much of the finness of the game, ways of racket technique,it's all about speed. Hell someone hits a ball at you at 120 mph and you just so happen to get the racket in the way, ti's going back at a high rate of speed!

Re: Hot Game
Great!!! I bow to the master. The only reason I know any of their names is due to my Dad's interest in the game and that he trained my brother, who is a tennis instructor.
As you stated, it is really funny to look at the clothes, shoes, rackets, the courts, and other technology involving playing the game. Not to mention the salaries. Bobby Riggs earned a mininum salary of $75,000 a year. Others $100,000 for tournament earnings. Now, the top ten men and women average about 2 to 3 million USD each per year.
Next, top 3 movies.

Re: Hot Game
I always kind of liked McEnroe. Sure, his outbursts were childish. Thing is, the media never liked McEnroe because they couldn't do the "poor kid does good' story on him.
I thought it was good someone in that game showed emotion.

Re: Hot Game
Ha! I just reread what Chazzy wrote, "3 HOT Players", and I guess again I would considered it to be Andre Agassi, Pete Samprass, and I would include Bjorn Borj.

Well when Borg played there was plenty of that...I just hated Mac...Connors hate outbursts, Mac went over the top....when he got kicked out of the tournament for doing so, I for one stood up and cheered. I do understand what you're saying though. Pete Sampras was great, but not too flamboyant...lol.

The master, lol.....SO COOL your Dad loved the game..I shoveled snow off the old court we have down at the park right near me more than once.....I recall when tennis balls went from white to yellow, and it was SO weird looking at them coming over the net! Jimmy Connors I believe had the first Wilson T-100? Non wood racket....I had to have one, but my old wood racket still remained my fav. Bobby Riggs was a bit before my time but I watched him and Billy Jean King play and then again watched it through the years and it was a media, money making event...she stomped him, and I am glad, but he was little to no competition for her. I always thought she, King was one of the greatest too....Once the serve and volley greats showed up, the base liners were in trouble accept for a few like Agassi for one...Martina Hingus (spelling?) could bang from the back line...which a great passing shot is such a awesome sight to see...

Re: Tennis ( formally titled Hot Game)
I retitled this thread, if there is a strong interest in Tennis, I surely and sincerely have no problem with a good discussion on it.
We can play lots of games anytime, and we'll let this thread continue on the path it's wandered down.

Gabriella Sabatini was hot. She could never beat Navratilova, Graf or Seles. But she was hot.
