What BS
I went to renue my drivers license today. Seems now I have to have proof of my address, SS number and proof and a Certified copy of my birth certificate.
The first two aren't a problem. The last one is since I was born in WI.
Seems since they have 'puters, they could find all this out.
Sure would be nice if they'd do all this at the borders.

Re: What BS
Ah yeah, had to go through all that too, I wan't born in Missouri, so called my mother, she couldn't find my birth certificate so got online and ordered it, cost over 25 bucks as I remember...and of course, as soon as the online order was processed, mom called to say she had found it.
I had to order mine from Kentucky, just google "Wisconsin state birth certificates" and a link will take ya straight there, a couple of clicks and a card number, you'll have it about week.

Re: What BS
I'm worried, as I got a notice in the mail for a renewal soon. I think I need a copy of my divorce papers? Looks like I'll be driving without a license soon.

You'll want to call or stop in so you know what you need.
I understand why they're doing this. However, I dn't understand where I lived in this same address for 11 years that they cann't access all this info online.

Re: What BS
Apparently every state except IN has adopted this. AS I said. I can undertstand why [legitimate reasons] but it's still a lot of BS.
[I also have a political connection to why]------

Re: What BS
NJ has done something called "6 points" You can't do anything at Motor Vehicle Dept if you don't have your six points. Each item is assigned a different point value.
You have to prove residence, citizenship and age.
Many documents are not considered as "proof"
There are what they consider "Primary" and "Secondary"forms of documents and they can each be worth anywhere from 1 to 4 points each. If you name has changed due to divorce or marriage and it doesn't match any or some of this ID you have to have the original certified certificate of marriage or divorce or civil union, or a Court document certified NOT a copy but must have original certification and court seal. All of this must match your Social security number as well.Don't try to renew if you owe money especially child support above $1,000 because you most likely have a suspended license even if you weren't notified.lol Oh and you must prove you have insurance as well.It must be active at the time of your renewal.
It is illegal to have a car in your drive way without insurance even if it doesn't run and it must be registered and have plates as well.
If you have an accident walking down the street and someone hits you with their car while your walking the medical bills go to YOUR auto insurance, that you are required to have if you have a license in this state. Are you confused yet?
However the idiots that run this state want to give drivers licenses to UNDOCUMENTED (Illegal)aliens. Please explain this to me?
On a good note my daughter had her 6 points of ID and got her drivers permit today. We went out driving and she did great and my car is a stick shift.I'm so proud of her.

Re: What BS
It's ok to re-new with no proof of any kind. Just tell them your running for president, and you'll get back to them in a couple years. "So simple, even a caveman can do it."

Re: What BS
OOMG, I had a simular thing happen to me in another situation. It's a Homeland Security thing. Stupid deal, as my American citizenship (as well as anyone else's that are native born), should not be in question. So far in Arizona, all that is needed to re-new a drivers license, is simply take your old one in, get a new pic, eye test, pay the fee, and done. Should I need to produce all that documentation, there will be a problem for them, as I don't feel something I've had all these years, should be questioned. Besides, when applying for a license the first time, a birth certificate is required to show proof of age. Don't they have it in thier records? Therefore, if it was'nt good enough the first time, why would it be this time? But then again, I have a hobby of screwing with people, so I'm looking forward to anyone else asking for my proof of my identity, then my fun begins. Yuk, yuk, yuk. . P.S. Ask them thier documentation, as you need to know who you're dealing with. Cynical huh? But funny, and

All who know me, know I do and will, just to prove my point, how stupid some things are.

Re: What BS
A story came out a couple of days ago about a registry worker who was fired for texting on the job. He sent over ten thousand tweets to twitter about how he was abusing customers for what he called, "Being pains in his ass"... He put numerous people on hold for hours, before hanging up completely on them. Then he routed those calls back to himself when they attempted to call back, and sending them finally to his superior when the people were really steaming mad. He even twittered about how his superiors were so stupid, because they were in a meeting to discuss using cell phones on the job, while he taunted them in his account. This morning they announced that he was suing the state of Massachusetts for the unfair act of firing him with no procedure in place for dealing with the use of cell phones in the workplace.
