Memorial Day
Knowing there's not many here this weekend, have to thank all those who gave their live's, while in service to our country. I personally appreciate it, as we all could easily be remembering you, and me. Thank you, salute.

Re: Memorial Day
I agree with the above.
If it weren't for our military, we would have the freedoms we do.

Re: Memorial Day
Memorial Day originally originally called Decoration Day, started in the Civil War era; when the graves of those killed in action were adorned with wreaths. So, observe in your own, but take a moment to remember, honor, and thank those in the military, and their families.
I know last night I watched the PBS Memorial Day Special. So, from about 10-12pm, I had tears running down my cheeks. The stories were so touching, and these were only a few. If I could do one thing in life, it would be to see our Veteran's recieve the best care and benefits possible.

Re: Memorial Day
I've had tears in my eyes all day. I never appreciated the day that we remember until I got older. I thank every single person who has served, from the bottom of my heart.

Re: Memorial Day
It's fleet week in NY and its such an amazing thing to see. It's hard not to be proud when you see these men and women. I don't care what your opinion of the war/conflict is regarding what or where our military are, you should still thank these people for their service. They are what make me feel safe. It has nothing to do with personal politics when its a life on the line.

Re: Memorial Day
I too am thankful as I was fortunate enough to become a close friend with one of the few Marines left that fought in Iwo Jima. The stories he told, what he endured....what a gift to get to know him as well as I did. In amazing contrast in stories told, my oldest brother served in Vietnam..I respect them all,I am blessed my brother made it home...He..the Vietnam Veterans were not treated as they deserved upon coming back, and that sickens me. Both men tell tales of battle, different eras, very different in many ways. Yet to serve is something worthy of the highest honor, no matter how correctly or otherwise people see where they fought. I've always thanked a Vet given a chance, and that's been many times....and will continue to do so.
