Wasn't Tony Orlando and Dawns Tie a Yellow Ribbon about waiting for a guy to come home from the war?
I think it also started the ribbon tying craze.
By the way every time I see this thread I star thinking about that song War!
"War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothin..."

I have read something, that listed and detailed all the war stories that were actually British military events, but when Hollywood made the movies, they subsituted American military for British, just for the ticket sales and to make it more appealing to American audience.

If there is anyone who hasn't seen Taking Chance you should, but fair warning even you guys might cry. You will definitely have a new respect for some of these guys.
Check out HBO's John Adams as well.

Re: War!
Military Taps, easily recognized and evokes strong emotion. The melody is both eloquent and haunting. Since 1885, the use of Taps is unique to the United States military, since the call is sounded at funerals, wreath-laying and memorial services.

My nephew came home from a year away this week and I know he is happy to be with his family, wife and two boys...he said nothing made him happier than to turn in "Yes sir" for "Daddy."

We take credit for everything. It softens the blow when we get blamed for everything. It, also, keeps our ego engorged.
