Life After Oprah
Call me chauvinistic, that's ok. Lord knows I've been called worse. But do you really care about Oprah retiring her show? To me, its always just been an over blown chick thing. It's not like she found a cure for Cancer. All she does is talk. She's not a comedian, like SO many other talk show hosts, or a musician. Yeah, she was in a couple of movies, but her claim to fame has been talking, crying and reading books. I can proudly say that I have never seen even one episode of her show. Even my own daughters are saying they cant imagine what life without Oprah will be like. People are planning Oprah Parties. The media is already saying "Will you remember where you were when Oprah went off the air?" trying to put it in a category of when JFK was shot or when 911 hit. I just dont get it. I will say this though, it was one of the most successful and long running marketing campaigns in television history. But still, I just dont care.

Re: Life After Oprah
I'm so with you. I don't get the reaction people are having. Phil Donahue did it first and they didn't react like this. I can't say I have NEVER watched her show.
I think her true claim to fame is she is a marketing genius! She actually hipped herself up to a point where people are reacting as if their life will be worse if she isn't on everyday. By the way have these people realised that she is NOT going away!!! She started her own network called OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). She is everywhere. If you ask me she is to many places and I could care less. I wont take away from her that she has broken ground and did a few shows that were helpful and even ground breaking because she had the balls and clout to do them. But she has to much influence and that is a scary thing if you ask me. It just proves we will still follow people like cattle.
Just wanted to say I miss you. We haven't had a good debate in quit a while.Hope all is well.

I have the damn computer but its has Linux and I am finding to many things are not compatible that's the point. I have to take it down and switch it back to Windows. The sad part is windows sucks but I don't know enough about Linux to do the work arounds on this damn OS.
As for me agreeing with you . I was just thinking I disagreed with Grandelf and agreed with you in the same week. Maybe that guy is right. The world has ended as we know it. lol Oh wait now he said that will be October.
I miss you too Josie! We need to have a big Happy hour reunion or something.Maybe a trip to Las Vegas....

Re: Life After Oprah
that's why the rapture didn't happen. Oprah has that kind of power, and wouldn't let it happen until AFTER her week long retirement party episodes.

Re: Life After Oprah
The Oprah network, OWN is just allot of old Discovery Health shows, Oprah and her best friend Gayle, and a few thrown in Oprah's favorite movies.
Nuttin' to see there folks, keep it moving...nuttin' to see.
