This is so ironic coming from me.
This is probably the most ironic thread you will ever see from me.
It is driving me crazy that I am seeing more and more spelling, grammar and generally bad writing!
I'm not referring to threads blogs and that type of thing. I would be the worst offender if that were the case.
I'm refering to books, advertisments, professional websites etc.
I understand that publishishers have cut back and are relying on computers to do this work but surley they must realize it isn't working! I have seen so many mistakes in books lately I get embarased for the writers. I am really apalled by that and web sites that are supposed to be a representation of your professionalism and its riddled with careless mistakes. Even after checking back for months and in some cases writing and pointing it out the mistakes are not corrected.
I know I was taught to read, reread and have others proofread things, especialy professional documents.I was in advertising and marketing and my clients would have my head if I had mistakes on their ads or websites that went uncorrected.
Professionalism, atire, behavior and decorum seems to be gone forever. I know I am very big on teaching my kids better than that now that they are joining the adult world of professionalisum and I see they do take it seriously. I seriously hope other parents are doing the same because obviosly schools aren't doing it and buisnesses aren't demanding it.It will be the few that do that set themselves above the rest and be on the top of the buisness world some day.
By the way this is typed on my cell and unable to spell check so as usual ignore all my mistakes.lol Although this is not a professional document so not a big deal.

Re: This is so ironic coming from me.
Only 10? I'm getting better. I admit I can't spell or write.
I see it as if a writer has that many mistakes its like a mathematician who can't balance their checkbook.
If you are having a website designed it is assumed you are doing it to get more buisness or get a message out. When the site is full of errors its just says careless and unprofessional to me. I would think that isn't what the person was going for in most cases.

Yes. I especially liked the deliberate misspelling of grammar!
That could almost be considered ironic...

Re: This is so ironic coming from me.
Isn't there some genius out that that can come up with a spell check, grammar check, punctuation check that would work even as bad as I write? I can't be the only person out there that is so bad That I confuse the spell check program. I always laugh when I get that message that says " no matching words". Its a nice way of saying " hey stupid that is not a word and we can't even figure out what you are trying to say!"
I do wonder how my mind can spot misspelled words while reading but not in my own writing? It's interesting how a mind works.

Re: This is so ironic coming from me.
still don't know how anyone can miss spell words. (not sure about IE, but Firefox has a built in spell check for almost any thing written, the miss spelled words are underlined in red...)

Re: This is so ironic coming from me.
LNH hang out with me for a while, I will show you how easy it is.lol Besides I use my phone alot.( now for example). Depending on how I am inputting the text will depend on if it corrects the word. That creates a different issue. If my phone thinks I am typing a different word than I am it automatically changes the word. This has happened and have had words changed to some very embarrassing words by mistake.

ahem...."misspell" is one word, and I believe "anything" should also be one word?

Re: This is so ironic coming from me.
Don't argue about the "misspell" one....
I think the most often misspelled word on an adult site is "horny"
It very common to see it spelled " horney "

Butt, I don't liek cake, I luv cake.
Since PCs became affordable and put at least one keyboard in every home, bad grammar, improper punctuation, and misspellings are as common as dust mites. Spell check is just software with suggestions and can't replace a dictionary (online or hard copy)
A family owned business near me, has one of those big spell out your own changeable alphabet signs. They like to post their personal political messages up there, and it wouldn't be worth a read at all if they weren't so bad at spelling and grammar.
Most spell checks I've seen, want to change the word "online" to Online, on line, or on-line.
I choose to ignore the spell check suggestions and stick with "online"
Using punctuation can be tricky, best to skip a comma or period after parenthesis when it will translate into an emoticon if extra spacing isn't used.
Yep, it's like, ya know....rain on your wedding day.....
