Face pics w/the rest: The answer
People have thier own reasons for not showing thier faces here, or no pics at all. I respect that. Answer: (and understandable) that they do not want to be recognized by "Whomever". My view on this is "Who cares if my face is seen?". Evidently, the one's looking here, are of the same ilk, so why be embarrassed? They are as "guilty", as we who run on adult sites. And, if we'd run the "risk" of being on these sites at all, should'nt be here. Just saying. Comments? (btw, I have a str8 on face pic, will not hesitate to post. No shame)

Posting pics for me isn't a problem. I like scarring people.  I see lots of excuses of "because of work". I still wonder if the people ya deal with are here, why a person cann't just ask them why they were there? 
Of course, there is the situation where someone may recognize you on an adult site and take thier business elsewhere without saying anything to you. Just spread the rumor.----

I work in a very public environment with young adults so in order to protect myself, them and my employer I stay faceless until I can verify who I am talking too.

I work for the government and I do public speaking but I still have pics of my face on here. I don't put it as my main pic, but it's there. I figure as long as I don't try out for American Idol or run for public office I'm good! I understand that not everyone feels that way.

Many people have jobs where their customers or clients may have grave feelings about being on an "adult site" or they rather be private. Those whose livelihood or family would not be in any jeopardy,of course have other concerns. Those whose children could be affected would also have pause.
It is one thing to be able to live your life and quite another to be pilloried for choices that while it is your right to so does open the possibility of unwanted exposure.

Things don't happen the way we think they might sometimes.
Just a rumor...."Someones uncle told my brother that they saw you naked on a personals site" is enough to stir up some shit, then you have people logging in just to look and verify. Protect your privacy, if being private and anonymous is important to you then yes we can recommend that you crop out or blur your face and distinguishing marks such as tattoos and scars, and pay attention to your surrounding and background too. Sometimes a place or a room is just as recognizable as your face or tattoo.
I think it's safe to assume that the majority of internet connected people have some controversal, provacotive, or total or partial nude photos somewhere on the net. The wrong person recognizing you should be a concern for many.
We do encourage photos, lots of photos, to bring attention to your profile and it's of benefit to the overall site as well, No one wants to do all those profile searches only to just see the same avatar over and over, page after page.

Some sites offer a variety of avatars for the reason Chazzy mentioned.Some are even customizable.
Here lies a big problem in the world we live in today. There is almost no such thing as PRIVATE. I can tell you my son for instance can get past any pass word I have ever created (We have tested this and he proved he can in seconds!). He happens to be a computer science major and as always had a great grasp of how things work. There are programs that can make anyone able to view your passwords. So even so called locked or pass-worded files are not so private as you would think.
The other thing that many don't know is most companies have staff that do nothing but look for things like "Unacceptable" content on a current or prospective employee.Of course there are companies that do this for competitors companies or politicians so they can disgrace them as well.Then add to the fact that a face pic can be photoshopped to anything and sent anywhere. I'm not talking about the amateur ones we see on here. I know in my line of work we used photoshop for all kinds of things. I can change your eye color in a picture if I wanted to and you would never know it was done.
So, besides the fact you might want to keep some of your private web play from your family or friends, you might want to think twice about what you post because of these other things.There was a woman who's profile pic was taken off a web site and used in a message parlor add after being photoshopped onto another body. She sued the company that did it and won. Things happen all the time that you wouldn't expect. That women wasn't even on a sex site. It just happened that her picture was stolen.I could but won't give hundreds if not thousands of examples of why you should never post a face shot.And Chazzy is completely correct when she says distinguishing marks or things in your surroundings can be just as identifiable and tied to you. So remember to take down the picture of your child on the the wall behind you when you snap your next picture your going to post.

We don't offer a variety of avatars, or customizable avatars simply because we do really want to encourage photos. People want to browse around and see real people , not cartoons and roleplaying type personnas. (You gotta admit, on sites with customizable avatars, some get way too wrapped up and create a whole other "online life" with their avatars. We prefer real photos and real people .

Just an alternative to a face pic not the others. Besides the site I was referring to actually had live video so the avatar was only for the profile picture. I personally like getting to know a persons personality before I see what they look like but that is just a personal preference.
I have been on sites with customizable avatars that didn't have live video. I think it depends on the person you deal with if they create an alternative personality. I find they can do that on here as well. I found most people designed avatars that fit their personality.
