Just in case...
The past couple of years, I have seem to fallen more into a practice of thinking "Just in case" than " instead of "Que sera, sera"
I don't know, it may be from my brother's accident that has reprogrammed my mind to accept that you just never know what will happen, my parents aging too, you just never know. Maybe it's my aging now, I'm becoming less careless and more careful?
I feel I need to keep a few frozen dinners and entrees in the freezer in case I'm off my feet and just can't cook ( I keep a drawer for hubs of fresh boxers, socks, T shirts, just in case I can't be home, and he'll be able to easily and quickly find what he needs (Hubs had been a bachelor until we married, he's not use to someone actually folding, hanging and putting aways clothes) I keep a keener eye on the gas tank in my car, because all night gas stations are a bit of a drive down the road. I restock on vital things when they are only half gone.
Ah, I just guess my bloom of youth is faded now, I take less risks, and live a more prepared life.

Re: Just in case...
I am the same way, most of all in the fact that I miss my motorcycle like crazy.....but because I have a son I have decided not to get one. Through the years I have had 4 deer hit me, on four different occasions and I've hit two...this was all with a car...they are a huge amount of them around here, no matter how careful one is, it's like a roll of the dice..before being a Dad I was very, very careful, never had a close, really close call...still, I just can't do it...

Re: Just in case...
I bet, I don't have children, but I can imagine how it would change the way you would analyze the risk of things.

Re: Just in case...
Smart way to think Grandelf. I lost 2 very, VERY close friends to bike accidents and both left young kids behind. And both of these guys were so safety conscious and both were hit by cars that ran stop signs. 2 separate incidents that occurred 2 years apart. Its just not worth it.

Re: Just in case...
I have had to get used to the nerves when hubs takes his bike out. Work and back I can cope with, but his bike trips are harder. However the bike is a part of who he is and we don't have kids to worry about so he gets to keep it and ride.
