Hair
Last night we were at the musical "Hair". That music is still alive. The hall was filled with all ages and it was rocking. Seeing senior citizens swing is great and most youngsters i saw loved it too.
Did they make a musical about "The Doors" ???.

Re: Hair
Not that I'm aware of. You might have just given someone an idea.
I love Hair.I remember I had my daughter watch it with me about a year ago. She is 15 (almost 16). She just looked at me and said "Don't ever tell me our generation is strange! Or our music!" lol I love that some of the clothes are coming back.I told her that we tied died our own clothes and wore out our own jeans. We didn't buy things that way.She thinks we were all crazy.

Re: Hair
Hey Dutsji, Thanks for the update. I so hoped you would enjoy the show. The film version is a little different. It funny to see the still famous actors at that young age.
Some of the cast were Beverly D'Angelo, Treat Williams, Annie Golden, John Savage.
I think kids either like it or they don't. The truth of the matter is so many movies, and/or music had a message. There were so many issues and the youth wanted to be heard. We were dealing with politics, the war, drugs, birth control, racism, segregation, women's rights, censorship, and music itself. Freedom of expression!
PEACE ~ LOVE ~ FLOWER POWER !
And, I'm getting old, HELL, I AM OLD, because I certainly don't understand what the kids are watching today.

Re: Hair
I think the kids are fighting all the same issues we fought just in their own way. They have their own music.(although some I do question if it should be classified as music.lol)They also have new ways to express themselves, yout**e,blogs, Faceb**k, etc.
I have talked about things like Woodstock and why it was so important to the times. I believe my kids get it. Most kids get it if they get the chance to have someone tell them the truth and not just the hype. They also understand the different mind set about people then and now. There are some really smart kids out there that if given the opportunity they will make this a better world. They are coming up with technology at lightning speed and these kids have the ability to change things for the better if people open their minds. They sometimes get dismissed but I guess that happens with each upcoming generation.

Re: Hair
Next to us were a man and woman who met at the musical Hair 40 years ago and this was their aniversery. They looked real proud and i noticed the woman knew all the lyrics.
Kids will look strangely when i tell them we didnt even have a tephone or a computer when i was a kid, How could we ever survive. lol
I think the truth is: there will never be a lasting peace. Always someone grabbing for a gun.
Buth he, i will parade with the two of you in those strange weird clothes, even grow my hair lol

Re: Hair
The shows now a days, and maybe it is unfair for me to comment, since I don't really watch them to know if they are sending a good or bad message. However, the ones I am speaking about are 90210, Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, The Hills. All show catty, petty, bitchy, and bulling. Kids growing up too fast, they get a poor self image.
And, now let me say, for the record. I'm not too crazy about how some of the adults behave on many shows. ADULTS, somehow if these people every had any manners, they learned to discard them. The shows I'm referring to are the Housewives shows, the O.C, of New York, of Atlanta. Yes, please forgive me for my poor choices. But, even the Celebrity Apprentice. I HATE IT. All the arguing, back stabbing, and manipulation. They are earning money for charities. "And so, how did you earn this money for charity?' " Well, I lied, manipulated, and threw several people under the bus, therefore I got here. I am the best!"
The best piece of shit!

Re: Hair
I don't watch those shows either Kss...I am not comfortable with seeing so much anger, bitterness, jealousy, win at all costs, have to have the last word, need to destroy others attitudes and personal philosophy.
Every encounter I have with others, I have a choice to ignore them, show negativity towards them, or show a small friendly act of kindness, if only a little smile. I can't see choosing to be cruel when kindness is also an option.
Dutsji, I haven't seen "hair" is so long, I need to refresh myself with it....the 60s and the 70s....what an era.

Re: Hair
Going to take it to the edge, go a bit a bit. When a man loose's his hair up front, he's sexy. When he get's that bald spot on top, he's a thinker. If it's both, he thinks he's sexy. I just depressed myself, but that's ok, what I don't have in volume, I make up in length. (past my shoulders). Cool huh?

Re: Hair
I saw Jesus Christ Super Star on Broadway about 10 years ago. It was so good. I know they also did Godspell off Broadway about that time.I thought it was funny my kids were afraid I was taking them to a show that was going to be boring and all about church.lol
I love some of these old shows but it seems like they can't come up with many good originals anymore.I think there are more revivals than originals right now. Its seems like if its not a revival its a Disney movie or comic book "Brought to life!" At the price of a Broadway tickets ($100-$150 and no that's not the good seats either)they would come up with something original once in awhile.
I have seen My fair lady, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar. I loved them all but it should be balanced. There was an original I saw that was great but can't think of the name right now. But it closed because even at the prices being $150 and up for that show and being sold out for months the cost of producing it was so high they had to close it. That's crazy!

Re: Hair
I once looked like an Irish Setter, when the crop quits coming in there's few options as far as I see it anyway...I was getting that Danny Devito look accept strawberry blondish..and it drove me nuts....now I mow.
Good story, when my hair was very long we were playing a gig and as I am coming out of the mens room here comes this REALLY drunk guy. He's sort of looking down heading right towards me..then stops, looks up seeing me...he then makes a left turn right into the womans bathroom! I stood there for a second like "what the heck is going on?"...then realized and waited for a scream. No scream but I laughed about as hard as one can without passing out.
