...And The Depression Hits
Had a garage/carport/yard/get rid of all the junk sale this weekend, and did something I said I never would. I sold all of my books. Through the years I never would get rid of a book, and and I wound up amassing around 1300 of them. They were just beginning to take up way too much space. I guess I'll start a new library tomorrow. What sucks is that I'll probably pay retail for some of the same stuff I just sold for $1.00 and less. I guess I could look at the bright side--the $2000.00 the books and the rest of the junk brought.

Re: ...And The Depression Hits
Anything and everything. Had about 900 paperback and 400 hard covers. I didn't sell any of my so called "classics," or "literature" though. Had many thrillers/mysteries/whodunits. All of Lawrence Sanders, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Jeffrey Archer, Mickey Spillane, Robert K. Tannebaum, P. T. Deuterman, Patricia Cornwell, Tammi Hoag, W.E.B. Griffin, Dean Koontz, Richard North Patterson, James Patterson, Michael Connely, James (maybe John?) Connely, Robert Parker, John Sandford, David Baldacci, Dan Brown, Sue Grafton, Steve Martini, Ridley Pearson, David Poyer, etc, etc, etc. Also held onto some signed copies of Tom Clancy and John Grisham. Wish you had known too.

Re: ...And The Depression Hits
I can only read a book about twice anyway(except bridges of madison county-I love that book) so just look at it this way....now you have lots of money to buy all new books you haven't read.

Re: ...And The Depression Hits
I took about 3000 to a used book store about 5 years ago to clean the shelves, all of my fiction and most of the biography section.
Now I think I have bought back about 500 of my own, and another 2000 or so new ones.

I just couldn't bring myself to part with any of the biographies/autobiographies.

Lately I have been on a kick of buying first editions of all the same books I got rid of a few years ago. 3some .gif">

I kept that kind of stuff, I don't know why. Like you said, I could find more updated stuff on the web. I just got rid of the novels.
