Bus Driving in Manilla
Have obviously had too much free time lately to watch TV!
We have a show here which sends (for example) a London Bus Driver to Manilla, to drive a bus there, to highlight the differences and bascially what we take for granted here in the UK.
I watched with interest as I have many filipino friends, having connections with the National Health Service here (lots of filipino nurses). The family that the bus driver stayed with were some of most beautiful people, working harder than anyone I know for virtually no reward.
Parts of the show were funny and sweet and shocking, but above all was the sense that whilst we know about these things we never really understand unless we experience them.
Some of you know I am about to become a godmother again, to a half filipino baby girl who is being christened at home in Manilla in a couple of weeks time. We are going to have a party here when they got back to celebrate a Manilla is a long way to go. Well that was the plan, after that show though we had a chat and the other godparents and I are going to Manilla too!
Something I want to experience for myself I guess

I'd love to see that show! The whole exchange of culture type of thing is always interesting.
Congratulations on becoming a GodMother again!

Do you know the name of the show Joise? I was going to try to find some clips online, but no luck with the google without knowing the show's title.
Still planning your trip?

Hey, yes the trip is still on for the end of next week actually. Must really sort something out for that.
The show is called "Toughest place to be a.....", so far I have seen the bus driver and midwife shows.
and thanks for the kind wishes, I will try to do both
