The News. How does it make you feel?
I am a bit of a news junkie. I sometimes will get so emotional that I find I have to pull myself away from it.We just had a tragic thing happen here.3 kids ages 20, 20, 21 killed themselves by running the car they were in right into the brick wall of a local elementary school. I actually cried when I read this. But I also got so angry. As the days have passed (3) they keep adding the updates on the story. But what gets me really upset is the the comments that people post under the stories on-line.I am amazed how cruel people can be. It doesn't matter why these young people felt desperate enough to kill them selves or what circumstances they were in or chose. I would never say the hateful things that people post. They were young and generally good kids with a future and most of all a family that loves them. The reality is NONE of us really knows what our kids are doing every second of the day or how they really feel about everything. How do you react when you see these things in the news? And then you see or hear peoples comments.

I tend to ignore "news". All it is, is a slanted biased point of view of the network it's on. Seldom hear good news.

I've gotten that way too. Spent over 2 hours Friday cleaning everything up all nice, neet and wider. Then, of course, it had to snow yesterday.
There's still whitecaps on the lake too.

Something in my head disconnects. So when in comes to the news I rarely feel it hit home.

Re: The News. How does it make you feel?
I like to keep up to date with what is happening around me, but rarely get emotional about things. The odd story will make me angry - either at the situation or the person, child cruelty or animal cruelty, things like that.
With disasters etc I always feel great sympathy for people, but my emotions don't overwhelm me and it takes a hell of a lot to make me cry lol

Laviathan seems to be in the know. One thing I can say that is a fact is, prepare. If he knows, what I think he knows, bottom line is, the whole world, ain't gonna be nuttin nice. All need to hear the news that tell's the truth about what's really going on. Behind the scenes, if you will. Who out there, think what's happening in other countries, is not going to happen in th "good ole U.S.A"? We've had over 200 year's of partying, and the big hang-over is coming. Not being a scare-monger, just telling the truth, as I do in all my dealings. How do you feel about 10 dollar a gallon gas? Think food and energy price's will sky rocket? Your turn.

Re: The News. How does it make you feel?
I'm not sure what makes me more angry, the news itself or the comments that the people make about the story. I find that when they interview people the reporter seeks out the most ignorant people they can find to put on air.
The local paper where I live (which is what started this thread)lets people comment on the stories.Besides the fact that the stories are written with speculation instead of waiting for facts drives me insane.Example:"They believe the three teenagers were on drugs at the time of the accident and the powder found in the car might be heroin."
Then everyone writes in saying horrible things about the three kids who died. Everything from "Yes they were drug addicts" to "I knew they were planning this, because they told me" All I know is three kids died and its tragic. I also know that the reports came back saying that the kids were not high at the time of the accident and the powder was not heroin. Yet people seemed to ignore that and continue to make stupid comments that have no purpose except to be cruel.I think there are some stories people should not comment on. Those kids could have been any of ours.

The news can send you into a depression!
The stupid thing I heard the other day is that the girl scout cookies are high in fat blah.. blah... Well duh!
That's why they are good!I don't think anyone eats them because they are part of a healthy diet. Actually I am not the biggest fan of them lol I like home made cookies and I wont even go into the fat content of those. lol

Re: The News. How does it make you feel?
LMAO Its amazing that no mater your age or location. Everyone knows about girl scout cookies and has their favorite. I know when my daughter was selling them it was easy. She never had to sell them. People would wait for the date they were allowed to sell them and call us. Yes they have a date. You can not sell them earlier or paste the dates given you. It's very strict because there are contests involved and money that each girl gets with each box sold. I just know the price keeps going up and the amount of cookies keeps going down.
There have been a couple of recalls but the last one had something to do with a specific plant and the ingredient list if I remember correctly. They do try to keep up with quality but like anything else you still have to rely on the people that work in the plants etc..I do know whenever they try to retire a cookie people go nuts on them. lol
