Re: night peoples.....:)
I go to sleep at 4 am but getting up at that hour would take real convincing. I doubt many people are that good at convincing.

Well then, hope you do well at 4am, nothing like being on the lake at sunrise, I love it.

Re: night peoples.....:)
See at least you know what kind of convincing I'm talking about. lol That's the only way to guarantee to wake up in a good mood.
I actually do like fishing and love the lake early in the morning when its like glass, but add the cold winter and I don't think I could do it.

4am? God, If I'm looking at 4am from either direction somethings not right. As far as convincing goes, I tend to like it more at my convenience. No earlier than 6. 7 if I can get some coffee in and be aware of where I am. Fishing? Not I. I'll go swimming though.

Funny, I don't recall you having any complaints when I convinced you in the middle of the night? Huh? You just went right back to sleep with a smile.
And swimming scares the fish away!Besides it's a bit cold to be swimming this time of year.

Re: night peoples.....:)
not up here we got groups that cut holes in the ice so they can have the polar bear plunge and dive right in burrr...that's almost as good as pulling down your pants and sliding on the ice....

Done the ice diving once and that was enough. Thanks though. I scare fish anyway. Saves me from cleaning them.

Re: night peoples.....:)
I go fishing in the summer. It's much warmer. (By the way, wear a hat if you are with anyone that casts getting a lore stuck in your head NOT FUN!)As for the polar Bear swim, my 2 oldest have done it in scouts and there is a charity one here every year. As for me NO thank you, one heart attack in my life time was enough for me.I want to know what insane person even thought this up, and why thousands of people do this. Are they thinking yes it sounds like a good idea to jump into freezing cold water in the middle of winter and get hypothermia!? I will bet it was a drunk man somewhere.

Re: night peoples.....:)
Fishing this time of year can be great, you see there's these little buildings we call shanty's, that have nice little heaters in them. Some well equipped, perfect for a day of "good company", woo hoo....melt some ice! And if you venture out, unlike being cooped up in a boat, you have all the space you need. Hard to explain, but there's solitude unlike the usual when out there, especially when it snows big flakes hard enough to where you can't see land. Like your the only one for miles and miles...again, hard to explain, but neat. Now years ago, I'd go out there and sit on a bucket or something, dressed warmly yet no shanty...Could still do it, but the heat thing is really more appealing with each passing year, lol...( You've seen Grumpy Old Men, well not all old but little community that's on the lake, like a small town?....I've been there, lol. )Ahh a shanty, a fresh cooked meal with a lovely passionate woman , well...Ice fishing takes on a whole new appeal!

Re: night peoples.....:)
I've seen those shanty's. Unless it comes with a a big warm bed and room service I think I'll stick to the 5 star hotels. lol I'm just kidding (sorta), some are nice. I always wonder how long you can have that heater going until it and that shanty becomes a new decoration at the bottom of the lake though. I know there are the guys that go measure the ice blah blah...But I have also seen some cars and almost a plane more than once go under.Yes we have a lunatic friend that likes to land his plane on the lake every year to "test" the ice.If it cracks he pulls up. Lets just say its about as safe as pulling out. NOT! But I have to admit we have had a few laughs watching the guy do it.I guess if you have enough money that losing your plane in the lake is just an "oh shit" moment its not so bad as long as everyone walks away from it. OK I will admit it can be pretty out there with all that snow.

Re: night peoples.....:)
we use to have a small cabin we dragged out on the lake it was nice in side eight foot square and insulated. it was gas heated and a sauna inside , Had a table set up from a Winnebago camper we gutted out , stove and oven and a upper bunk. we use to fish two or 3 days at a time and stay out there though snow storms and the like. i kinda miss it . have to build another one some day
