Our Military
Whenever I see a soldier in his fatigues (wouldnt know without that) in a train station, airport or whatever, I make a point of walking up, shaking their hand and saying "Thank you for your service". Never once, never once, have I not had a politeful "You're welcome" accompanied by a grateful smile, and sometimes a hug. I would encourage everyone else to do the same. It doesnt matter what Country you live in. These people put their own lives on the line, everyday for the people back at home.
As many of you know, I'm a half assed musician, singer, songwriter. My latest composition is called "A Soldier's Christmas". Its on the y tube thing. If anyone wants to hear it, (sorry, I'm not VIP any more) contact my buddy lonelyandhorney for the link to it. Be sure to have a tissue. I was fighting off the tears singing it.
It doesnt matter where you stand politically, or what is going on in the world, they deserve our thanks.

Re: Our Military
This is a good thing to do and wish more would od it as well. Saturday while in Augusta,GA there was several Guard members there. All in camoflage and one with his helmet on. I asked if they was goin' downtown. The guy chuckled and said no.
I then thanked all of them for protecting our sorry asses.

Re: Our Military
It amazes me that people can't separate there views on what and where we are fighting with fact that these young and not so young men and women do so much for so little. Like many of the other jobs in this country like fire police and emt's these guys go into situations where anyone in their right mind run in the opposite direction. Most of them get paid shit wages and never think twice about putting their lives on the line for us. If we can't pay them at least thank them! These are the real rock stars.

Re: Our Military
Makes me proud to hear ya'alls sentiment about the military.
I have talked to some soldiers who came to this site, they've told me some awful stories about their experience on other sites, they would get some very ugly and aggressive replies and messages from some of the other members based on strong political views. A few soldiers said they hesitated admitting to being a soldier because of acts like that.
Something I would hope would never happen to a soldier on this site.

Re: Our Military
I think most would agree that I am as opinionated as they come. I can't imagine ever taking my personal views out on a military man or women. Politics has nothing to do with the fact they put their lives on the line for us. I know my brother in law faced that when he came back from Vietnam and I think its disgusting.

Re: Our Military
Ya'll know how i feel about the military, as I spent a large percentage of my adult life in the military. I still make a point to say thank you when i see a uniform, fatigues, or a tattoo i recognize as a military emblem. I even talked to a man who was on the Indianapolis, there was a man with a story. And I talked to a man who was with the 10th Rangers, 2 men with extraordinary courage in my mind. I have had the honor of seeing Omaha Beach, if it doesn't make tears swell in your eyes to even see that place, you're not human. Its easy to see why we lost 800 men every minute there. The thing I've never agreed on about war, Is the people who start them, are never the ones on the front line fighting them. Never the less, I will always thank s serviceman/service woman for their service. so to all those in active duty, or vets... I salute you, & I thank you
