Happy Birthday Elvis....
the king would have been 76 today (January 8th 2011)
what is your favorite Elvis song or movie?
my favorite song of all time is "can't help falling in love with you"...when my ec was pregnant with my first born, the baby would be very active, and i would lean over, put my head on her stomach, and sing this song to my unborn child, it always seemed to calm her down. it still does, 9 years later. lol

Re: Happy Birthday Elvis....
He was my absolute favorite as a child. At 7 yrs. I bought two of his albums, and still have them.
I will have to say my favorite is Suspicious Minds, then In the Ghetto. Elvis Presley enjoyed gospel songs like How Great Thou Art and Christmas songs.
I worked with a mam who played with Bill Haley and The Comets. Johnny Grande, an original member, he played piano, accordion and musical arranger. He told me Bill Haley saw Elvis perform in Germany and said he didn't think the Kid was gonna make it as a singer. Later, Elvis would joke with Bill... "The kid's not gonna make it, huh?"

Re: Happy Birthday Elvis....
My favorite Elvis song is "A Little Less Conversation" the redone version. My favorite movies is Harum Scarum (which I finally bought on DVD because it's almost never shown on tv).
I was a little girl (9) when he died and I remember my mother bawling. She had tickets to go to the next concert that would have been the night after he died.
I can still tell you exactly where I was when we heard the news.
He is still greatly missed...

I also remember a duet with Elvis and Frank Sinatra, and I was so impressed by the tone and the smoothness of Elvis's voice. His voice was so much better than Sintra's. He was really given a gift.
