Weather
The weather outside is frightful------- Guess ya know the rest of that song.---lol
Well, it has been strange this year to say the least. Not the snow in the northeast and east so much. That use to be normal. There was snow and hail in Phoenix.
Here yesterday and today it's been cold, with winds over 24 mph. Snow along with it.
In Fargo yesterday there was a 100 vehicle crash. I think everyone was ok. It was caused by this same system that I'm getting. There was one funny about Fargo. The local tv station interviewed people about the weather and driving. This girl simply said--"my car likes running into poles and trees, I'm staying home"
Sure did make a point and ighten the situation up some.

Re: Weather
Spent all early day making sure all my loved ones were alright. A horrible squall line went through, down bursts, straight line winds and multiple tornado touchdowns.
I was just up in the city yesterday, and the very area we were at, is decimated. Fortunately, the causality count is low for the entire state, 3 fatalities, that's 3 too many, but considering how wicked the weather was...
Possibility of another band of storms this evening.

Re: Weather
I just saw on tv that there were tornados from that. It it is sad about the deaths.
On the other side, there was a foot of snow by the Grand Canyon.

Re: Weather
It's all quiet now...couldn't reach my parents till this afternoon, but all the family is safe.
I got to say, I'd rather have been shoveling feet of snow this morning than watching the wicked weather we ended up with.

Re: Weather
This past Monday(Started Sunday) we got 3 feet of snow and wind gusts of 80 miles an hours. That's just crazy.I left Thursday morning and our street was still not plowed out. They were telling people to be careful they were afraid that people would try to dig out and have a heart attack.

Re: Weather
We knew we had storms coming, and it was nearly 70 degrees yesterday.
F3 tornados were dropping everywhere. Quite horrible to watch the weather mapping and seeing things unfold all around your loved ones.
The American Red Cross is amazing, they are there in minutes after a disaster. Good people doing good work.

I hope you have been ok out there. Heart attacks while shoveling are actually fairly common. One thing that happens is people don't eat enough before attacking the snow. They also don't take breaks when they really should. Be safe!!

Re: Weather
I'm tired of having to dress like Ralphy or the kid on the Malt-O-Meal ad.
I don't mind the snow. Can tolerate the cold. It's the friggin' 25 plus mph winds that I really hate.

That is a problem. People leave the stuff in 4wheel drive and think it'll stop as quick as it takes off. I don't use 4wheel drive unless it's necessary.

That's so true, I've heard it often, I'm high risk for stroke and aneurysm....I still shovel the snow, but I'm so aware.
In deep snow, there's also yearly reports of people not digging out the exhaust on their cars, and getting carbon monoxide poisening while sitting in them while the car and engine warm up.

Re: Weather
four wheel drive only works when all four wheels have traction, which is next to impossible on glare ice. my sister's ex learned that the hard way on year. he was plowing the drive way, through he could make it through the snow, not realizing that there was ice under the snow, slid three feet, right into the telephone pole, but he didn't get stuck in the snow, he got stuck with a busted plow instead.

Re: Weather
I'm 120 miles south of Phoenix, in Tucon, and this crap ain't right. Winter here, has always been the best time to maintain an all over tan, it's cool enough. Now, I'm forced to contact the governer to see just what she's going to do about this cold stuff. It's like profiling, can't even be an upstanding nudist anymore, damn it.
