Will I talk about this newer speaking trend? Yes I will.
Have I noticed what seems to be a trend of speaking by first posing a question then immediately answering it? I sure have.
Do I wonder how this trend started? Yes I do. Will I use google to indulge my curiosity about this pattern? It's very possible. Did it start with a media piece like a movie or TV character? I really don't know. Do I wonder if any of you have picked up this habit? Yes, that has crossed my mind.

I hadn't noticed this trend. Have I?---hehe It is interesting though.
Perhaps it's the poster has a question then in posting the poster finds the answer? However, if the poster finds the answer, why do they post the question?

Re: Will I talk about this newer speaking trend? Yes I will.
I haven't seen it in text like forums or emails, I've noticed it in the everyday speaking of some people.
You can ask them a simple question and instead of simply answering you, they reply with a more complex rephrasing of the question and then they answer.
Watch for it, it's out there...and yes, I'm pretty certain that I will try googling it.

Re: Will I talk about this newer speaking trend? Yes I will.
Maybe it's still too new of a thing, maybe I haven't hit the magic keyword phrases to come up with the right search results, but I still have no trail on when this trend started developing and where it came from.
It is annoying, but so are allot of other bad speech habits, like inserting an "um" between every word or few words, the trend of replying with "whatever" way too much.
My weird ass mind tends to look beyond the annoyance, and starts turning its gears for the WonderWhy machine, which I'm certain makes me a great annoyance to some. I just have a strong tendency for some reason, to be attracted to the orgins of things.

Well, they say lawyers are trained not to ask a question to which they don't know the answer; so maybe it's just that we have too many lawyers.
P.S. If you have a lawyer up to his neck in sand, what have you got?
Not enough sand...

Re: Will I talk about this newer speaking trend? Yes I will.
Well that makes me wonder if this form of speaking is something typical of a region or culture, spread about by immigration?
I happened to be watching Comedy Central this morning, an episode of "Scrubs"....they referred to one of the doctors that spoke this way as a "question talker"...I googled that and found an entry in the Urban Dictionary, but so far, no answers on the orgin of this habit.
