I think it depends on many things. Who with? Whats the mood at the time? How good are the people involved at doing it?
For me I have never been into it . Then I got involved with someone that changed that drastically! I still think I suck at it (Not in a good way)So I feel I get the better of the deal but he doesn't seem to mind.I feel some people have a talent for it like many other things. I don't have that talent but he sure does.

I don't generally like phone conversations at all. Always prefer to see the face of the person I am talking too. Having siad that, sometimes it is ok, I think you just have to have a certain type of confidence to play like that on a call
