Christmas is a holiday shared and celebrated by many.
It is a day that has an effect on the entire world.
To many people, it is a favorite time of the year involving gift giving, parties and feasting. Christmas is a holiday that unifies almost all.
The spirit of Christmas causes people to decorate their homes and churches, cut down trees and bring them into their homes, decking them with silver and gold.
In the light of that tree, families make merry and give gifts one to another.
When the sun goes down on December 24th, and darkness covers the land, families and churches prepare for participation in customs such as burning the yule log, singing around the decorated tree, kissing under the mistletoe and holly.
Oh, and it would appear cookie eating is a must!!

In our home we celebrate both Chanukah and Christmas. One year we were lucky enough to spend Christmas with friends in Cozumel who celebrate very differently than we do here. The thing I love about the holiday season isn't the gifts giving or receiving (of course its nice but that you can do any day).Its the Christmas in Cozumel that really made my entire family realize the part we love the best. No mater what the holiday you celebrate the fact is you celebrate it together. We spent that Christmas with almost my entire family as well as our friends and their family and friends and even strangers. They have a open door type of Christmas so anybody that walks by can stop in and join the party.It was all about family and fun not the gifts. It was about family traditions as well as religious beliefs for them.It was very simple but so enjoyable. We have tried to bring that into the way we celebrate now.I know most of the time the gifts they have gotten through the years get forgotten but that Christmas is a memory that will stay with us for ever and they always say it was the best Christmas ever.
Whatever you celebrate even if your not a religious person. Celebrate your family and friends.Have a wonderful holiday and Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
