A Soldier's Christmas
These words kinda speak for themselves. You can tell by the title what I was thinking
1.) They wont be eating turkey
Or their Mothers Christmas Ham
They wont be seeing snowflakes
Just endless miles of sand
They wont be wrapping presents
Or trimming a tree
Cuz they're the men and women
Of our Military
Chorus
Say a prayer for a Soldier
And their families and friends
Ask God to protect them
Till they're back home again
Say a prayer for a Soldier
Whether present or past
Say a prayer for a Soldier
That's all that they ask
2.) For them there'll be no Silver Bells
Or shopping in the malls
There wont be any Silent Night
Or Decking of the Halls
They'll be finishing their mission
To protect you and me
They're the men and women
Of our Military
3.) In tents or make shift barracks
They sleep on their cots
Their weapon beside them
Is the best friend they've got
No one made them do this
It's all voluntary
They're the brave men and women
Of our military
Bridge
They don't ask anything special
Its just a job to them
And if you ask, they'd tell you
They'd do it all again
The politics don't matter
Agree or disagree
They risk their lives
So that you and I are free.
Ending
So, say a prayer for a soldier
If its the only prayer you say
Ask God for them to be with us
Next year on Christmas day

Re: A Soldier's Christmas
Amazingly, poignantly well spoken in verse my dear friend. You have such a powerful expressive way to share your thoughts. THANK YOU! I fully agree with your words, and I too add my individual thanks to all our military personnel, and my prayers as they continue to serve, protect and defend us until theirs and all missions end to allow them to return to us.

Re: A Soldier's Christmas
Thank you my friend. I know this sounds strange, but the first time I recorded it, it took me about 12 takes before I could do it without crying. Thank you for your kind words, but mostly for keeping "them" in your mind, thoughts and prayers!
