I Am PISSED!
Ok, Dig this. I sent out 2100 invitations on a particular Social Networking site, that many of us use, to promote my song and video. Many of you know, I did this to raise money for the ASPCA and the National Wildlife Federation that are continuously working to help the wildlife effected in the Gulf of Mexico. 2100 invites and NO ONE got it! Ok, Im not pissed, Im BEYOND pissed! Sorry for the rant, but I'm trying to do something good.

Re: I Am PISSED!
I assume you sent one invite to many people in one posting.
Are you sure it wasn't seen as spam by the particular social networking site?
Don't get me wrong I think it's a great cause and a wonderful thing you did.
But do the mods of that site see it in the same way?

Re: I Am PISSED!
No, actually since I posted this, Ive come to learn that it seems to be a glitch in that site's system. On an FAQ section, there were dozens of other folks that posted they were having the same problem. Glitch or no glitch, its still been 2 weeks wasted.

These things happen a lot. This is why you have to have redundancy with things like this. My background being in Advertising/ Marketing I know you must expect this and be happily surprised when things don't go wrong. Email me I will make some suggestions. It's a good thing your doing, and fortunately this is something that can be ongoing in regard to the fundraiser.

Re: I Am PISSED!
wanted to say this at the start.
"I am PISSED" in Australia doesn't mean 'I am angry'.
Just means you've had too much booze. And you are letting the world know about it.
It's something you wouldn't admit to the police officer who just 'pulled you over' which means 'stopped your car', if that last phrase confused anyone.

If you live east of the Pacific, west of the Atlantic and north of Mexico, it means more than I'm angry. It means I'm furious.

yeah, I'm aware of its meaning in the US. I was merely pointing out the difference in Australia. And maybe the UK too.
Aussies call beer 'piss'..e.g. 'get on the piss' - hence 'pissed'. It can be used as a directive too...'piss off' - go away.
Granted we use this: 'pissed off' - angry or annoyed with someone or something. But I don't think US people use this meaning, just "I am pissed". But 'pissed' and 'pissed off' have different meanings.
maybe. or it should be posted in the cultural differences forum topic.

Re: I Am PISSED!
pissed and pissed off have the same meaning in the states. why use 2 words when you convey it in one?

Re: I Am PISSED!
Exactly..for Americans.
But Australians, as I pointed out, use pissed + off = angry
and pissed = drunk. 2 different meanings.
Americans don't say they are pissed when they are drunk,(or do they?) well only if they aren't happy drunks and get angry.

Re: I Am PISSED!
In the UK we use all the versions everyone has mentioned. We are universally friendly like that
It is more common to say "I am pissed off", rather than just "I am pissed" when conveying anger or frustration. However generally you can tell if someone is drunk when they say it which changes the meaning.
Also for information some of the most popular ways of explaining that your blood alcohol content is quite high are:
"I'm slaughtered"
"I'm hammered"
"I'm wankered"
Thus ends todays cultural exchange broadcast from the UK

LOL thanks from the UK Cultural Correspondent.
Your humour stopped me getting all steamed up about it.
I'm wankered?? that's a new one for me.
"I'm full" is popular in Oz.
or "full as a boot".

Re: I Am PISSED!
I hate to add to the "topic drift" that has occurred here, but I just wanted to add my two cents worth.
I've always enjoyed some of the differences in British and American slang. Some southern Americans use the term "shagging" to refer to dancing, while when Brits are shagging they rarely do it in public! In America a "bum" would be a panhandler in shabby clothing, not the part of your body that you sit with! However, in America the part of your body that you sit with is your "fanny", which has quite a different meaning in the UK! And in the UK when you go to someone's home and knock on the door you are "knocking them up", not the American term for impregnating someone!
Cultural and language differences can be quite amusing at times!

Re: I Am PISSED!
Sandy, I wouldn't feel too upset about continuing the drift.
I'm not sure anything more needs to be said about free's glitch.
The title 'I am pissed!' still fits the current discussion.
There was/is a thread on cultural/linguistic differences, maybe that one could be resurrected and comments/opinions continued there.
Or keep on here. Not up to me, of course.

Re: I Am PISSED!
Most of the expressions are understood by all of us with out you having to explain them. We used most of them here as well. And yes people also use pissed and being drunk here as well. Just not as common as some other expressions. Even if we didn't use the exact term here most of us are able to figure out the meaning based on the content of the the story or the sentence. If people don't understand something they will ask or look it up. That often happens when acronyms are used.
Now back the the thread. I think Free is on the right track now and working it out. Hopefully he is no longer Pissed! Hey Free if you are I have a few ideas on how to make you feel better.

Josie, you know I would do many things with you but I might have to leave the punishing to others.Hard to believe I know, but unless I am pissed off at you or generally don't like you I would find it difficult to punish you. However I wouldn't mind being there to maybe hand off some of the instruments used.I happen to know someone who might enjoy punishing you a bit.

Josie Kam and I can bring all the toys , tools etc he has gotten quiet a collection, but I have a feeling you might want to bring a few of your more interesting ones we don't know of.
