Sounds that you hate
Ok this topic is in response to Chazzy's invitation to post a new topic in Answer and Ask.
I think there ought to be a number of sounds we hate.
I can think of a couple:
as a teacher, the sound of fingernails down a chalkboard - which will become a sound of the past if those magnetic boards become more popular.
And the screech of car brakes, a few moments of silence, then ...so I don't know which is worse; the brakes or the silence.

Usually I am quite laid back about noises, but I suppose I have a few little ones
1. The sound of my alarm on a Monday morning
2. Any animal in pain
3. The jackhammer pounding away outside my office window
oh and the phrase "how was it for you"....lol

My mom has a beautiful voice, but I hate the sound because I know there is going to be a fight.
Oh, and if this counts.. I hate the sound of lies!

I live on a school campus right next to a set of basketball courts. Every break - at least 4 or 5 times a day - about 100 kids come to practice. Bang thump thump crash thump thump thump, squeal, crash, shouts...you get the picture?

I hate hearing my kids cry. Anyone in pain. Certain words or non words example: Aks, convasate, uses guys etc...
The following expressions also make me cringe: "Mom, now don't worry but...", "In a minute"(which never happens!),"I ' will" (again never happens!)And my all time nerve racking statement"Mom, I had a little accident"(Translation: I need you to take me to a hospital QUICK!)

For the record I hate them too. They woke me up. I wasn't to thrilled with the people cleaning the carpets in the building either. We so need to sound proof your bedroom. I am thinking it will solve allot of issues.

Alarms! The alarm clock which goes off at 5am. It is relentless and shrill. The fire alarm at work which is so loud and piercing, it makes you go crossed eyed. And, the police siren. Whoops, I did it again!!

Absolute silence. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's nice, but if it goes on too long, that's when it becomes a problem...and yes, C-rap irritates the crap out of me, too!

Just remembered one.
In the early 90's I was camping beside a Kombi van at Monkey Mia (the place in West Australia where the dolphins come in to be hand fed). The couple in the van kept going in and out all night..and the sound of a sliding Kombi van door gets on your nerves after a while. That "sliiiiiiide" open..."sliiiiide, clunk" shut...."sliiiiiiiiide" open...."sliiiiiiide, clunk".

Christmas is just about my favorite holiday, yet, the sounds I hate are of the continous repetition of commercials identifying sales.
70% off Burlington Coat Factory, Sear has on sale, K-Mart the place for layaway. Go to JC Penny's, and at Macy all merchandise 50% off. Ugh!!
And, one for Goody. I like the sound and smell of coffee brewing in the morning.

I also like the sound of my back cracking. It's not a loud crack, but a soft adjustment that lets me know my body is going back into alignment.
