Shifting gears
I haven't driven a manual transmission vehicle in a very long time, had to take the hub's pick-up out to gas it up for him....anyway, remind later to fill in the huge divet I left in the driveway....

Re: Shifting gears
That was one evil rut I put in the driveway. Just filled it in.
The truck was parked in front of the car, so I had to maneuver the truck partially through the grass to get around the car and I haven't driven a stick in a long time.
Yep, that was a wicked divet!

Re: Shifting gears
That brings back memories... A job I had they trained us on a manual transmission, I learned how to double clutch, had to, or it wouldn't go in gear, or start grinding.
The gears grinding, not me.

sorry beforehand if this is but I saw a funny thing today and I wanted to share it.
This morning I was on the school bus and went past a section of street that had been dug up into a car-sized rectangular hole - to lay new surface there I guess. Nothing unusual about that, right?
This afternoon, coming back home..up ahead I see a group of people on the side of the road. Accident maybe? Nope-- well nothing too serious.
A car had driven into the hole (about 6-8 inches deep). What made it even funnier was that they had just laid a load of wet concrete in. How the driver didnt see the barrier round it I dont know, but it was stuck up to its undercarriage, and drying quickly I guess.
Really wished I'd had my camera with me for that!
And what if..to bring the post slightly back on course, it was not a manual but an automatic?? (can't push an automatic).

Re: Shifting gears
Oh wow, I wonder too, how a car ended up in that predicament! Must have been distracted maybe...
I can picture that, the car stuck in cement!

true story! Would I lie to you?
can hear it now.."So yes Officer, it must have been the late afternoon sun in my eyes"..which wouldn't wash one bit cos you can stare at the sun most days here..without being blinded.

Re: Shifting gears
My dad had me driving a shift when I was nine years old. He wanted me to be an experienced driver and not to be afraid. Although, we did have on wicked hill right at the light on the HWY. Always go nervous I would roll backwards.
