Any Dr. Who fans?
I had a wonderful time talking to slowpoke last night about Dr.Who, he really knows his stuff there.
He told me there are 11 different Dr.Who actors, I had only seen one older PBS series, and one movie from the late 90's so he had me looking it up to see if I could recognize what actor and which series or movie.

They say that you can tell you're getting old when the policemen start to look younger. I have a slightly different interpretation resulting from latest Dr Who.
You're getting old if you think that Dr Who's companion is too young for you...

Re: Any Dr. Who fans?
Have to admit to being a rather keen fan of Doctor Who. All of it and will say this, whilst the assistants may be getting too young - the last three Doctors have been much more to my tastes

This was the very first Dr Who - Invasion Of The Daleks. The Dalek spaceship lands on Earth and they are taken prisoner into the control centre of the most sophisticated machine in the Galaxy - and it's full of lava lamps!

QUOTE (slowpoke2 @ October 17, 2010, 14:11)Who was your favorite Dr who ?
I grew up with Dr Who from the first episodes. So I always believed that The Doctor (nobody could remember (or say?) his last name) was immortal because of the Tardis' time travelling capabilities.
And at first I was a bit perturbed when he was replaced, again and again. William Hartnell (with the long white hair) - and slowpoke you will correct me if i am wrong at any point - was replaced by Jon Pertwee (craggy looks, weird longish basin cut hair), and I forget the rest or the order. By then my hormones were starting to rage so the Drs assistants became the highlight; who cared about the Dr's immortality as long as the new assistant was sexy.
Gradually, the Drs became younger, and more handsome - to appeal to women viewers maybe?
To me though, the Dr should always have been portrayed as elderly and wise and so Hartnell will always be The Doctor Who for me, closely followed by Pertwee, and then with the over the top eccentricity of Baker introduced a whole new dimension to the character.
Oh and the Daleks..it occurred to me just now that maybe, in the early 60's (not long after WWII) that their Hitler saluting-like raygun (?) and their continual bleating of 'Exterminate' (?) might echo the feeling of hate towards Nazis..yeah I know it's a long bow to draw. Just a thought.
