Pretty Damn Cool!
Ok, I know Ive been working on it for a couple of years, but I finally have a studio date! Going in on the 29th and recording an entire CD of MY songs! A video too! Im working on one song in particular which is the one that the video is for, and with any luck, the rest of the CD will be done by the end of October. It aint fallin apart this time!

Hey, Josie is back! Thanks to all of you for the wishes. Had a meeting on Saturday about what we're going to do and how we're going to do it. Looks like we're going to be starting on Sunday after noon. Probably going to take a while to do it because of relying on days off from regular jobs, but I'm definitely looking forward to it and grateful for friends who have agreed to or offered to play on it. Color me excited!

Day 1. One song mostly finishes. Got the rhythm, vocals and percussion down. Just need to add the mandolin and bass. First song will be finished this week. I cant believe that these guys even made ME sound good! All in all, it was a good day. Hopefully next Sunday, we can get 2 more down. I'm hoping to get 12 songs on this CD, and 2 of them, I havent finished writing yet. I guess I'd better get to work!

I hear ya, such a beautiful instrument, isnt it? I write all of my songs on an acoustic guitar and put them on cassette before I forget how they go (real professional, huh?)But when I played this one back, one of the first things I heard in my head was a mandolin

Got the call this morning that the first song is done. All the instrument tracks are on it. A bit of mixing and I can pick up a recording of it tomorrow. Then I can go down south to the Gulf area and see if I can hawk it to get some airplay. Hopefully, recording 3-4 more on Sunday. I was hoping it would be done by the beginning of October, but it takes alot longer than I thought. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Ok, I was blown away this morning. Through the advantages of a social networking site that rhymes with place look, I got a message from a legendary local music icon who saw my latest song that I posted on there. Keep in mind, I barely even know him casually and have only met him once. Unknown to me, he's been looking at my stuff on ytube. The message was that he really liked the new song, cant wait to hear what it sounds like when we do it in the studio and then, if I wanted, HE OFFERED TO COME PLAY on not just the new song, but the rest of the CD too! IF I WANTED? That's like asking Fred Flintstone if he wants a Bronto Burger! I damn near fell out of my chair! I was excited and humbled at the same time. Yeah, this guy is THAT good and never in a million years would have thought he was listening to my stuff. I think the music gods are looking down favorably on me! This is gonna be good!

Thanks, you guys are the best! Its a bit frustrating trying to coordinate everybody's schedules, so this is taking longer than I thought it would, only 1 recorded and cant even get back to the studio for another 2 weeks. But now that summer is sadly behind us, maybe we can move a bit quicker!
